Food Banks

Featured Replies

Not content with their benefit money, the BN are now reporting that food banks in Bolton are struggling to cope with demand

Thoughts?

is the idea of getting a job to pay your way no longer applicable?

I saw the placard outside the paper shop saying there's a youth obesity problem.

So, are people not able to feed their kids or what?

FWIW, I'm not having folk haven't got enough to eat.

these folks who are going getting the food from the food banks, do they have Sky Tv, internet at home and other 'essentials' ?

Where are they? I've got a tin of condensed milk in the cupboard that I don't want.

I thought exactly the same.

One minute Bolton's kids are all starving to death, the next minute they're all fat cunts.

Make your minds up.

Beat me to it!

Oh and I've got an opened tin of condensed milk in the fridge I don't want.

I'll have it. You can make top cookies with a tin of that, some sugar, flour and raisins

You don't want my tin It's been open a few days. It'll only be suitable for someone who's actually starving!

I've got some barbecue beef super noodles (proper branded - no cheap shit! :) ) in my cupboard.

They're neither beefy nor barbecuey, so if anyone's passing mine on the way to the food bank, feel free to pick them up..

does it still look ok? Nip round and you can have some of the produce from it.

Now that's frugal :)

I've got a ton of Campbell's meat balls from the 80's in my cupboard it still had a competition

On it to win an Atari computer

I may enter

I'm sure I could fill a bag with all the odd bits of frozen food in the freezer. A bit of ginger, a solitary sausage, a Yorkshire pudding. Some ice cubes.

It's a veritable feast.

Do they pay better interest than Lloyds?

Investing in magic beans probably yields a better return than Lloyds (or any bank for that matter).

I watch a programme about the food banks etc. some folk take the piss but far more are really struggling.

I think I saw the same one - some absolute arsehole had a job, nice enough house etc. yet tricked some Vicar type into giving him the pick of the donated food, by using all sorts of lies. The film-maker confronted him about it, he didn't even look particularly ashamed about it.

Indeed. That shouldn't hide the good work they do though. Plenty of people very appreciative and would be fucked without them.

Use it in yoour coffee, instead of milk n honey

There'll always be piss-takers, you're right though - quite a lot of the food is stuff that would be chucked (by supermarkets etc.) anyway. They do help some of the most vulnerable who are fairly 'blameless', but also children who's parents do put Sky, drugs, fags, takeaways and booze before groceries - it isn't the kids fault their parent(s) are c*nts is it?

So I can drive up, tell them my kids are klempt & they'll give me a bag of shopping?

Honey indeed instead of sugar in your java, it's the future and Pabbers speaks the truth!

This one c*nt was poncing food saying it was his daughter's birthday and all sorts - cadging cash and everything off this do-gooding bloke. The bloke making the film had him bang to rights by nipping down the 'Births, Deaths...' Registrars...

But, as he (the Vicar) said to the filmmaker, he had to trust the bloke's story - it was either allow for the fact that some without genuine need might take the piss, or deny those who are (in genuine need)...

So that's a yes then? Sweet.
