Earliest Sporting Memory

Mine was the 1973 Sunderland v Leeds FA Cup Final

That save from Jim Montgomery was unbelivable, without doubt the best ever at Wembley

I was hooked on football after that

England v Germany 1990

I would have been 12 but sport never really interested me before that.

That was shortly followed by my 1st wanderes game. 3-2 defeat by Coventry in the cup. 90/91 season

My first memory is my first game. Me grandad took me to a night match at home v Bournemouth. Sat ont lever end, dunno what year but was only a nipper. Think we lost summat like 3-0. Efan Ekoku scored hatrick for them i think and we had Chic Charnley on loan from St Mirren. Seem to remember a banner and protests to get Phil Neal out if i remember rightly!

FA Cup final 1975, West Ham v Fulham, then made my debut at Burnden the following august, v Fulham (2-2)

Also, if you havent seen it, watch "one night in Turin".

I cried watching it and I couldnt even remember it first time round!

Ace documentary that, and top soundtrack. The book is one of my favourites too, as I must have said about fifty times on here!

Sitting on me dads shoulders at the age of 7 in the embankment for a league cup tie in 1967 against Liverpool. Think Freddie Hill and Fannie Lee were perhaps playing and we won 3-2?

I thought the smell of the onions and hot dog stands were amazing as was the pipe and cigarette smoke but my owd man being the tight bastard he was would not let me try any of em!

the 90 World Cup will be the best ever for England fans,it was absolutely superb, the whole country was gripped by it. I ended up watching the semi in Monts with Greavo and his gang

My first memory was this match. Remember my mum, who isn't into football at all, telling me that we are watching this match because it was very, very important.

A very well known BWFC & England supporter called Conrad who lived four houses up from me fell out with his owd fella during this game and they lived in the same house for seven years but didn't speak because his dad wanted the Polish to win. True :)

Nothing surprises me with him, top fella who I respect 200%. Last saw him in Bratislava before the Solvakia match, still loving it :)

It's not pal no :)

Cup Final 1953 cried me eyes out cos of that bastard Stan Matthews

Beating Newcastle at Burnden 3-1 in 1981 (or was it 82).  I actually remember nothing of the match though so not sure it counts.  Just remember sitting on the embankment watching an old man devour a packet of biscuits in front of me and wanting one.  Oh, and I think we left the ground by walking throught the paddock and then out of the Great Lever end.

After that it was getting bummed at Wembley by Bristol City in the Freight Rover.

Spaznob, glory hunter.
