Was it Youngs who came on against Tranmere in the cup and looked very dangerous?

Yes

Superb

Mavies looked good and fit

found his level :)

anyway, clean slate

I hope he tears the championship a new one

mavies needs to have confidence on the ball - most threatening running at defenders but doesn't do it enough for whatever reason

What time did you go out this morning mate??????

just watched it, impressed with Gregus and Hayden White and defence in general.

didn't think Davies had a great game, but good to see him get 70mins.

Only seen 1st half so far. I'm as impressed by the U21s as I'm unimpressed with the 1st team.

Nice balance, good movement, clearing most defending situations by playing the ball out, strong centre-backs, decent pace on the break.

That's the U21s I'm talking about, obviously.

Watched the 2nd half. Very impressed by their organisation, defending as a team, pacy breaks, workrate, concentration.

Don't like to single any out really but White, Gregus & Youngs caught the eye.

Made me think (again) WTF is wrong with our more experienced well-paid 1st team then ......

is it cos theyre not playing against a team of kids

perhaps

Just wish we had someone who could deliver a dead ball like Gregus in the 1st team. He can certainly kick a football.

That's the sort of weak excuse the players would come up with, Cas.

Apart from MDavies all our team were 'kids' too - even Vela. And MD & Vela were feeling their way back after long long injury breaks, while some of their 'kids' were being talked of as possibles for an FA Cup 3rd round appearance.

Anyway "organisation, defending as a team, pacy breaks, workrate, concentration" aren't that much to do with the strength or otherwise of the opposition.

You'll have to do better than that, so put that rod away.

not really

to disregard the quality (or otherwise) of the opposition is naive at best

even jules darby off here could get a game in liverpools reserve team that plays in the 3rd round of the cup

if they are playing this wonderful football of which you speak, all well and good

the challenge is to repeat it against better players

i've seen one or two of that team play in the second division and they've not struck me as anything special

or against tranmere come to think of it

Gregus has never had a sniff.

Mind you no bugger in the reserves has had a sniff. It's not the Bolton way.

While I like to booooo everything the club does.

I'm convinced if they were good enough they would play and it's not some secret conspiracy to hold the youth back.

Didnt liverpool have a couple of first team squad members playing?

Didnt liverpool have a couple of first team squad members playing?

could well have

point stands that you can't always impose your game on the opposition

the fact that the stiffs are playing a nice style of football is good to hear and something that i'm sure freedman will happily do when he has the solid base that he feels has to come first

nobody should kid themsleves that phillips et al have much say in the style of football

Thought Bolger was excellent and White looked decent.

Not sure about Gregus- decent with the ball but seemed to drift about a bit in the first half too. He was more disciplined in second half.

Actually quite impressed with Clough and Youngs- both decent footballers; give them a few pounds in weight as they fill out and hopefully there might be a bit more end product.
