I work with a lad who was a trainee at Bolton many years ago (at Burnden), he said that they used to get deep-heat on a big yard brush type thing and then pin the young lads down and scrub their knackers with it. Apparently most unpleasant.

 

 It was either that or one of Phil Neal's team talks.  Apparently most opted for the deep heat brush.
