Mains Smoke Alarms

Can you change these at all?

Every time I open the oven the fooker goes off. It's really sensitive which is good in a fire type situation. It now when I'm taking a pizza out!

I'm pretty sure depending on the make the heads are pretty interchangeable. If the sd is in the kitchen maybe look at getting it changed for a heat detector to stop the nuisance tripping.

It's in the hallway outside the kitchen, which is open, I've put up with now for a while

But it's starting to get on my tits.

Not sure in that case its not my speciality. I think I have seen somewhere in the past you can change the sensitivity of them maybe that's worth a look.

Ha ha! It is! The alarm goes off with the toaster too.

has it not got a fused spur you can flick out while you are cooking

No door I take it between the kitchen and hallway where it is? I believe you can get heat detectors rather than smoke detectors but not sure if these comply with building regs or whatever.

Oh and clean the crumbs out of your toaster :)

Stop burning stuff, innit.

We had the same problem.

Trouble was every time I grilled bacon it meant the pub got evacuated downstairs :D

They will be heat detectors. Get em swapped for smoke ones.

Opposite way round. I doubt you can get a heat detector for a domestic hard-wired system anyway. You can, however, get ones with a silence button. Following the first actuation you push a button and it deactivates the alarm sensors for around 10 minutes. It saves a load of tea towel wafting.

Put a plastic bag over it......simples

Like you'd know anything about it :D

I googled.

You can definitely get heat detectors for domestic households. When I used to work in building control I used to see them in kitchens quite a lot

The problem I have with heat detection is that they don't do anything during the period you could actually do something about the thing causing the alarm. I'd much rather have the nuisance of sa bleep during cooking than no bleep until it's too late.

Shower cap and elastic band it is then.

Rip the fucker out and twine all the wires together, wrap them up in tape and shove the, back in the hole. Then rub it with a bloon.

Blame immigrants.
