Chautauqua

Lads, some of you will remember the Miss Andretti story where early info helped you secure odds of around 7.00 for what ended up being a victorious 2-1 favourite in the Kings Stand a Royal Ascot.

I have just watched the Group 1 Manikato Stakes from Moonee Valley, Melbourne where Chautauqua was last into the straight (which is similar to the short one at Chester) only to win by two lengths going away in effortless fashion, jockey stood up in the stirrups pointing to the sky in a salute to his recently departed twin brother, putting away more than half a dozen top line group one sprinters in the process.

They had already announced that victory would have him off to Hong Kong for the big sprint but the trainer has just said that his next ambition is to shake hands with The Queen. The Hawkes family used to run what became the Godolphin operation down here and are very, very smart operators.

Be alert - keep your eyes out for antepost odds. If the horse remains sound he is definitely coming. I have no doubt that he is the worlds best sprinter at present. Anything above 3.00 is absolute monster value for this charcoal grey sprinting freak.

Is there anybody out there?

Stuck record time. What a fucking freak this horse is. Been inoculated ready for Royal Ascot.

Comeback race today in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes over 1000 metres at Flemington. Gone for all money at the 200m mark, sprouts wings and whooshes its bollocks off to win on the line. No doubt I will have a Youtube video to post shortly. Jaw dropping win. Glad I stepped in at $2.80 which was the top of the market.

Please let me know what odds you can get up there once the Kings Stand odds go up. Owt silly and I'll be sending me Dad some cash to invest for me.

Important update lads. Just heard that Chautauqua's target is the Diamond Jubilee Stakes of June 8th. Not sure now if he will run in the Kings Stand.

Here is a (crap) video of his mind boggling win last Saturday. Shit video but you can clearly see him last at the 200m mark and the remarkable acceleration from that point to get up and win. A freak at work. Will post a better Youtube video if one becomes available.

I don't see the fuss, to be honest.

Different when your money's down, obviously, but I reckon I'd be on Exosphere next time out.

Sorry pal but you'd be a fool if you were. Exosphere can't handle a straight course at Flemington (or anywhere else for that matter). Two goes - failed dismally - trainer said it will never run down a straight course again and he's taken it back to Sydney.

If you can't see what is special about Chautauqua, maybe you should stick to watching Association Football?

Jesus H Christ. Group 1 championship sprint at Randwick (Sydney) today called the TJ Smith Stakes on the opening day of the two day 'The Championships".

Australia's best sprinters assembled. Chautauqua top weight and last into the straight. Fucking whoooooosh! Blew them away. If you took the early 5's up there, enjoy the following read:-

They gave me $3.80. I am still pinching myself. I rated him a $1.80 shot.

Video to follow when I find one.

That's fucking crazy riding.

There was absolutely no need to give the horse that much work to do,

I would generally agree C but, the Hawkes camp are very astute and are adamant that he must be ridden this way to see him at his best.

Edited to say you must now be impressed? He's a freak.

What was the trip?

Could race another furlong easily if kept closer to the action/rail.

He wouldn't win like that in the UK,

He certainly went the long way around, seemed a crazy way to rid him, but I guess they know what they are doing

Six furlongs - he has won over seven.

What happened at Flemington, Bolty?

A non betting day mate. The Hawkes team said this was part of his preparation for the 'big 3'. Defending his TJ Smith Crown, the Sha Tin sprint and Royal Ascot.

They said they'd left plenty on him to work with and, although his sheer class might still get him home, punters take note that he was only "around 90%".

Fat as mud in the parade ring and his coat looked 'wintery' - dull and long (as greys often can with no detriment). Still ran a brave third and the difference in the parade ring at Randwick last Saturday was astonishing. You rarely see a grey 'glisten' in the sunshine but he did and he was well tucked up and so obviously cherry ripe.

Essentially a 5f and 6f specialist sprinter mate but he did win the Hawkesbury Guineas over 7f.  This may be an interesting read for you - scroll down for the full picture.

Hadn't he won a Group 1 three weeks earlier?
