In other businesses you would have other costs for producing your product - I.e sugar, cocoa, marketing costs (if you make a chocolate bar)

 

With football there are only 11 players on the pitch at any 1 time and 20+ in a squad - no raw materials etc

 

I don't see any other model that would work in football other than a team spending 80-90% of turnover on staff with a bit left going into other minimal costs (ground updates, training ground etc)

 

The alternative say if all teams spent 50% on staff, where would the rest go? Other costs to run the club are negligible and wouldn't go up. All that would happen is the clubs would make big profits, the tax man would get more and then the chairmen and owners would get big bonuses / dividends (and we know how that would go down!)

 

I think it's right and proper that the TV money coming into the game is spread over a broader base of players rather than going to a few chairmen

 

If anything some should be used to deflate ticket prices but then that would reduce turnover so % spent on wages would be the same anyway

Your arguement doesn't stand up! You've forgot about the losses!

 

80-90% of turnover spent on wages, 33% of turnover in losses! You're another one conned by the smoke & mirrors. Don't become a chairman
