Has anyone any reccomendations for decent, central hotels/B&B's in York that don't cost the Earth? I've got plans of all day drinking in the blazing sunshine then rolling off to bed early hours so don't need to be anything but clean and safe. Cheers.

Askham Grange isn't central, but it's clean and safe, as HMPs go.

It's probably better than some of the hotels I've been in over the years!

Went last summer and booked an appartment just off the river through hoseasons. Was excellent and on door step of everything

was looking at something like that, mega cash though or reasonable?

Airbnb?

£290 for the weekend mate, that was for us and kids. Worth a bit more to be right in centre

Try secret escapes or hotel exclusives there are a couple of offers on both for York at the moment.

There's a couple of Travelodges one right in the centre, one about 5 minutes walk.

Both are decent enough

Micklegate and York Central - Micklegate is actually more central than the central one

I stayed in a cracking b and b in the centre but ive been trying to remember it without success all day.. sorry

Try and get to Barbakan, its a cracking polish restaurant. Been twice now and loved it.

I've stayed at The Five Lions pub a couple of times, they have a few rooms at the back. Basic but clean, fairly cheap and near the main piss up areas

I watched Blackburn v Bolton in there and the inconsiderate bastards put a live band on.

If The Viking is still going, used to be beltin'

Great rooms, food and close the The Knavesmire. How good can it get?

Ibis.

Standard but you know what you're getting.

400 yards from city walls.

Is that the one on the river? Gets battered by the flooding
