I mentioned Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in a previous post. A 15 year old wonder kid! Well we have 17 year old Joe Moores. A great knock of 55 today. Showed up the experienced top order. Wasn’t enough though

  • On paper, the best batting line up we've had since Atherton, Crawley & Fairbrother, if not before.   On grass, absolute shite so far.

Lancs will win the County Championship and T20 this season.

2017 or 2018?

Both....:D

Coming season obviously mate.

  • 4 weeks later...

Day 1 of the championship, and we can all look forward to another year of the weather beating us

Two counties washed out today early doors.

Hope we can get a head start.

We're also washed out.

We're also washed out.

Did wonder. Think it was Kent and Gloucester on teletext. No mention of lancs so hoped we might get some play.

Be reet tomorrow

Underway now - thanks to these silly toss rules (designed to stop crap teams trying to win half their games by preparing puddings and winning the toss) we have been put in to bat on a pitch which has had a full day sweat through no fault of our own

Not a great start

Nice touch on the Lancs website this season being able to watch the non televised games in the County Championship and 50 overs on a live stream.

i'll spend a few hours at work this season watching that im sure.

bad morning.

Currently lead by 2 runs with 2 wickets remaining

Lancs all out for 73 so Notts need 10 runs to win

notts need 9 to win

currently 5-3

its on!

Question - given the weather, and the fact that pitches often yield low scores (not always) early in the season, would it not be better to play the one day competition completely first, then get the championship matches in a bit later.

Pitches with a bit of help for bowlers often make for a more exciting spectacle in dayers and it takes away big changes in pitch conditions as they dry over a day or two.

4 day cricket should be played on true pitches, to match test conditions.

This is less likely in April, May and September

One Day an, especially, T20, now dominate the prime months. Well, money dictates. That said, it is a professional sport. Money talks.

But, let's not be too surprised if the Aussies win here next year.

In my world, proper cricket gets priority.

Bit of both, I think

Hear, here

or vice versa

Hear ye, hear ye.

Bit more like it today

Aye, not doing too bad so far.

Essex all out for 150 and Lancs 65/4 so not a batting wicket it seems

Seems to be all over the country with below par scores the Order of the day.

Water table must be high. We've had shit loads of rain; I'm around a month behind with regards to grass cutting- yet today's lawns were still soft as buggery.

Must be really difficult trying to prepare decent wickets.

Northwest tonight reporting now how farmors are struggling with the latest spring.

Farmers moaning; whatever next?

After last week, and with such a short season now, if we don't win this game we can basically write off the real cricket season and focus on 1 day rubbish and hopefully getting some proper players in to the England team - not that I like our chances after the ECB bravely appointed another chinless wonder from London to the selection panel.
