I see Visitingblade has given you a few rough pointers however I thought I would give you a few more, haven't taken the team to read through the whole of the previous thread therefore some may have been touched upon however for what it is worth......
Parking:-
Your arrival time in Sheffield will dictate parking options. Bare in mind that we are based on the outer fringes of the City Centre in quite a populated area, rows of terraced houses, student buildings and commercial buildings surround the ground and as you can imagine it will be near impossible to get street parking before midday....."The early bird, catches the worm" springs to mind, get down nice and early and take in the atmosphere and a bit of grub and you will most probably land yourself a bit of street parking.(Shown in red)
As VB mentioned, you do have some parking over towards decathlon (1) and you also have a couple of paid car parks down towards the ring road which are about a 5-10 minute walk away(2&3), these might suit those of you who like a working mans club as I will mention below.....Again though, I would still be aiming to get down there around midday because parking fills up fast at BDTBL and with a big attendance expected....even more so.
Food and drink:-
MY CHOICE - We all love a Wetherspoons don't we?.....And we are fortunate enough to have quite a new one that has bit put up not too far away from the away end....even better for you guys, it is away fan friendly and a regular drop in this season for travelling fans (1). Obviously with spoons you get the usual menu for those fancying a bit of snap......This place is becoming ever popular like I said therefore if you want snap that is served quickly....get in there pre 1pm.........Again the atmosphere is pretty friendly, with plenty of banter and believe it or not singing at the moment because we are generally very happy fans.
As I touched upon above.....down by the ring road (Queens Road) you will find The Queens Social Club.....This has become a popular one over the years because you have early bird parking (2&3) next door and opposite, cheap enough booze, a McDonalds and KFC within walking distance and round the corner another boozer (The Royal Standard)......Which is generally away fan friendly.
You will find that the majority of fans who are travelling by train will probably stay with stumbling distance of the train station (TS).....There are a few decent away fan boozers down that way and with it only being a 10-15 minute walk up to the ground, most prefer it.
A very decent boozer can be found at the train station itself (The Sheffield Tap).....loads of selection on tap, both premium lagers and craft ales....and shed loads of bottled stuff from all over europe......Other pubs around the station include the showroom bar (below the cinema), The Howard and The Rutland (Decent chip butty).
On the away end itself you will find The Cricketers.......This has notoriously been a home pub for as long as I remember however it has been taken over in recent years and has a fine selection of ales therefore it is now popular with both sets of fans.....With this one I would say get in early and whilst bother is far from common, it can get a tad "giddy" at times and again with a big attendance on the cards.....I might be tempted to advise to look at Wetherspoons or down by the station instead if you are ok with the 15 minute walk.
Finally a few things...........
I see that you lot think that we have pulled some sort of fast one with the tickets?....This couldn't be further from the truth!
We sold pretty much all of our allocation against Scunthorpe with the exception of a handful and this weekends attendance is expected to be another decent one if not bigger......The only empty end at the lane last week was the away end due to an average Scunthorpe take up and an annoying police segregation.
I suppose considering a slow uptake from your fans and our fantastic support last week, it makes very sound business sense to pull the tickets back and try and offer them to home fans.
Secondly.................
It's a game of football ain't it and whilst I hope the travelling fans have a decent drinking sesh, a good day out and a safe Journey to and from Bolton......I wish you the worst of luck on the pitch . I'm chuffed that you have sold Clough because he was lively and a real threat....You have turned us over twice this season allbeit run close twice and I honestly think you will see a completely different Sheffield United team this time out!.......We are now looking the best we have looked in a long while and if we turn up like we did against Scunthorpe in the first half....then you best hope that your back four are on form.........We are a completely different outfit from that opening fixture and the cup game was a weakened team.
Finally.........
Gary Madine?..........Need I say too much? Never liked this bloke, has a reputation for his off pitch antics (Scrapping in bars around Sheffield) whilst with our swill munching neighbours....Had his run ins with the law and quite frankly this latest tweet shows what he's all about doesn't it?....Better off without him!
For what it's worth I don't think it will do anything but spur billy on and I wouldn't be surprised if he knocks one in and has a good laugh at Madine's expense.
