Marc505 Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 So I've been shafted by genetics and a fetish for flat, narrow trainers. Now they're starting to cause me some proper gyp. Who's had them removed? How long are you left hobbling/on crutches for and... Do they come back?! Quote
mickbrown Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Women with bunions wearing strapped high heels make me gipp. No help at all. Sorry Quote
Rudy Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 A couple of things, get some bunion gel pads, go to a masseuse for a massage (happy endings are extra) ibrupofen will help with the pain, forget bunion splits they’re shite. Really consider surgery before you do it. You can be recovering for months, they can be removed and they don’t always come back especially if you look after your feet after surgery and not straight back into your Sambas If you do have surgery go and get your feet measured after it . Ideally you want your feet measured when they are warm for a more accurate measure, and then look for a extra half size up with thicker socks. Everyone should soak their feet at least once a week with Epsom salts. Can get them from boots for about a fiver. Fitness coach / physio for almost 10 years so I’ve seen my fair share. I might have some gel pads that I give to athletes as a temporary measure if I do I’ll send them you, but usually they are tailor made for the individual and they’re the best ones. Quote
Rudy Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Just checked my bag I’ve only got wimmins ones, I’m in Italy with work until Thursday so I’ll see if I have some when I get back , get yourself some gel ones from Tesco in the meantime Quote

Excellent mate thanks for the advice, gonna give the pads and the salts a try. A lot of what makes mine worse is impact stuff so if I go walking anywhere uneven for a prolonged period, and spinning at the gym batters them as well. And they're proper ugly but at least there's not many that are unfortunate enough to see them! Quote

Invest in some good trainers for the gym, puma, new balance and under armour are my recommendation, Nike and Adidas are all slim and hard impact Quote
MancWanderer Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Under Armour and Skechers (with a memory foam insole) were recommended by my podiatrist. I’ve got osteoarthritis in both my big toes and will be having an op soon. Different problem but by christ they’re are comfortable and help take the pressure off the joint Quote

jeep Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Rudy, do you recommend Epsom salts for everyone, or just everyone with bunions? Serious question Quote

Serious question If you’re on your feet all day I would definitely say so. They're great for recovery, well ice baths and sub zero climate chambers are best but Epsom salts are great for this aches and pains. Quote

Thanks fella 👍 Just take it easy with them because they can make you feel like you’re healed and have no pain at all, when in fact they’ve just temporarily eased the pain. So use them but if any pain goes don’t be auditioning for the Riverdance Quote
