i got roped in and ending up doing u7s to u13s

at 7s i had one kid who was proper away with the fairies

ball went past him ' comon xxxx chase it'

next he pulls this funny pose, shouts superman and sets off

another day hes picking fucking daisies

another one wanted to go in goal another day

4 or 5 down, could get out of our box, let alone our half

he just tucked it under his arm and wouldn't kick it

'they're only going to shoot and score another'

I genuinely just spat my drink out in laughter at this

It's always been the weakest point of my eldests manager.

I'll be forever in his debt for the work, time and effort he's put in to running that team from under 5s to now under 15s.

But he's never had the ability to move players on if they're not good enough and giving folk fair game time etc.

He threw two cup finals taking off better players and making it fair. Made the team weaker and we got beat. That's not good for the rest of the kids.

It's a difficult balance isn't it.

Chap at work was asking my advice on a cup final for his girls team and I didn’t envy being asked with no knowledge. Fair play to all of you that do it. I’d be with Gonzo though that winning is important but not at all costs

Competitive football is different; be honest from the outset, play to win, give game time if you can- learnt this the hard way. Up to U12 give equal game time, from then on equal opportunities... end of season cup you play to win

My own daughter was once the only player not to come on in a cup final, gutted for her and when we raised the manager claimed bot to have realised... my arse; if they had just said from the off, wouldnt have been impressed but i wouldve understood

If any of you lot fancy a friendly with an Under 12s team over this way give us a shout.

Nice little day out at the coast for you after :)

...I'm trying to broaden our horizons as we just keep playing the same teams

Sounds good, will see if my mates are up for it, reckon they will be as we should win easily against some U12s

Are we allowed to wear proper studs?

I've got an u10s boys and u15s girls side ready for games if needed

Yes but you're not allowed in the showers after.

Just watched Blackburn and Burnley u18s kick shit out of each other and 22 ‘man’ brawl. 2 sent off, penalty saved and the bastards equalised with literally the last kick

Nice to see it means as much in the youngers

BBDFL season starts 06/09- all U7s teams have submitted contact details, and expected 'levels'

27 teams- about 5 from Ladybridge

one admits to being high ability

and so the fun begins!

Whatever happened to kick abouts.

Against my advice our team has been moved up and I am not looking forward to the new season one bit

Tbf, the formative weeks will be about finding their own level- the end of the day 5/6/7 year old kids… academies will be swooping soon enough

my biggest peeve is the pressure from parents- some of them freeze in front of a baying mob

I know where you’re coming from bud, but embrace it- 12s? Might be a rough ride to start, but they’ll benefit from playing a higher level. If you get mauled every week, a good league sec will pull a few strings

U10s

We played a year up a while back and did really well but that was when the higher league was weaker than the one we are going in now. Hopefully I'm wrong

Parents again will be your biggest obstacle- still non competitive; it’s character building. They’ll learn to be resilient

be reet- play with the ball on the floor and it wont matter. Kids all happy? Thats what matters

i'll post tomorrow once I've digested everything from this weekend!

3-2 win this morning. Love it when your training routines come off in a game

Meant to say good luck to everyone today, and the girls starting tomorrow. Been a mental day all round- I was actually nervous about my U7s! Not in terms of result, but if they listened, would the sweat team feel welcomed, would parents behave etc…

Needn’t have worried

Parents were fine, think team felt welcomed, most of kids listened lol

won 10-1 (Can say that cos nobody knows who played)

Felt great to be back as a manager

This might not get any traction given it could be buried, might only be for Salford residents- but if you could sign this it would be a massive boost.

In a nutshell, we’re a club with fuck all, nestled in the arse crack of Salford, Bolton and to a lesser extent Wigan. Going 30+ years and constantly overlooked, more favourable areas seem to do ok… but I’m not mixing politics and football

Imagine how good Joel Coleman could’ve been if he had decent facilities?

Cheers guys

Bad weekend for my lads.

3-0 defeat for Fylde Coast under 12s against Fleetwood Town.

2 Big howlers from our keeper who is normally impeccable. My lad just wasn't at the races, felt sick before the match and wasn't his usual tenacious self.

Older lads team just been beat 5-2 by a brand new Poulton FC team that have been busy handpicking all the best local players. Terrible conditions and they just ran away with it at the end after a close game.

Two downbeat kids in the household tonight.

Pick ‘em up bud- hate those who poach and don’t coach

I refuse to believe there are ever terrible conditions that close to the Irish Sea 👀

Random, and perhaps odd question; what colour socks do your boys wear home and away?

Under 15s lad is White home, Blue away.

Under 12s lad is Barca type dark blue for home I think and away like a light turquoise.

Eldest is in to ripping all his socks and wearing grip socks now. Does my head in :D
