June 16, 20251 yr Just stepped in myself to help out with my lads team. He'll be in U8's next year. Started this season off with 10 players, ended it this Saturday with 5. Previous bloke running it jacked it in back in March as was causing aggro with his lad (good little player but blaming other lads for goals conceded etc) Whilst he was there couple of lads playing 40 mins virtually every week, others lucky to get 15. Club have been non-existant and offered no support so moving to another club for next season. When club found out last week they told current manager he couldn't take any more games this season. The politics in it all has genuinely shocked me this year. Hoping myself and current manager can let the kids enjoy it with no pressure next year - we are both on the same page. I've always said to my lad all I want is for him to enjoy playing. The focus in winning when it's non-competitive at this level has been ridiculous from a lot of people involved (coaches and parents). There was a U7's game abandoned a few weeks back as parents were physically fighting on the touchline after one bloke was heard encouraging his lad to 'snap' the other team. This resulted in one lad being taken to hospital in an ambulance. Edited June 16, 20251 yr by BeeversLeftPeg
June 16, 20251 yr I am glad my youngest isn't remotely interested in playing footy unlike his older brother. The early Saturday getups to get to the other side of Bury for a 9am kickoff won't be missed. But the bullshit that goes with it I am most happy to put behind me; mostly down to arsehole coaches, blatant cheating, feral kids and even worse parents. You guys who coach deserve a medal, I wouldn't do it for all the tea in China.
June 16, 20251 yr My lads under 7s team won in the BBDFL cup semi final on Saturday. Playing the final at Man City's academy on Saturday morning. I've honestly not been as excited for a football match in years.
June 16, 20251 yr Sounds like they should just ban parents from being around the pitch during the game.

I wish that could happen- silent games get scoffed at, but if everybody had the mentality that the kids are just learning it would be so much better. Do you turn up at maths lessons and scream algebra?

It’s the ones who spin around and haven’t got a clue where to go I feel sorry for… I ask them to not to chase like a puppy, their dad shouts them to run!
June 17, 20251 yr My lad played for his mates team against one of the Breightmet u9 team. Kids swearing, parents swearing, one dad told his lad to smash my son. One lad threw a punch at him and another booted him off the ball. Ref had a word with said player to say he'd seen it. Coach went mad saying the ref had no right to speak to the player. Mum went mad and told his son to ignore the ref. Kid stuck his middle finger up at the ref and told him to fuck off. Parents thought it was fuckin hilarious. If you'd ever met my lad, which I know a couple on here have, you'll know he's an absolute delight. Friendly, funny, chatty and just genuinely nice But he was the only one in this team not afraid to tackle and use his body and he practically got assaulted for it and their parents did nothing. I was on the verge of going over to the mum and dad of this kid and just slide tackling them knee height, to see how they liked it, but I was able to control myself. At the end, I told my lad to go and shake hands, leave it on the pitch and congratulate them for winning the match. He did, they told him to "fuck off" and shoved him. Not 1, but 2 - I wouldn't let their parents leave until they all apologised to him and shook his hand. The team my lad was playing for were absolutely petrified of their players. Their parents and their coaches. Morning to forget. An absolute embarrassment. U9's!!

June 18, 20251 yr Popular Post Currently getting all my kids in order for next season… if you know, you know 😂 If you don’t, FAN is an acronym for Football Association Number (I think)- it’s a unique identifier that stays with you across every team you play for, coach, volunteer- even watch England games. i love how this lad has nailed his colours to the mast early doors though 😂

June 20, 20251 yr Also at city he'll be available to all of their partner clubs to go on loan and get experience.
June 20, 20251 yr City are very clever with this. After hoovering up the best from all academics, they're making a fortune selling them all to help with FFP. No idea what the answer is but it does seem City and Chelsea are dominating the youth scene
June 20, 20251 yr My mate who runs Fleetwood academy was at some thing with Man City the other week. Said they just love signing athletes. All kids are black/mixed race and absolute fucking units.

They'll get less than a million at tribunal for training fees. He'll be worth tens of millions in a couple of years if he stays fit.
