3-2 defeat on a ploughed hilly field this afternoon for the under 15s.

Coach for my lads under 12s even after a 2-1 hard fought win dressed the players down because the standard wasn't good enough.

He's a really good coach and been ace with my lad but thought it was rather unnecessary 🙄

Little Peps… be positive, first year competitive. Don’t crush a kids spirit

Exactly. They came off buzzing, we spent the last 5 mins bang under the cosh and managed to see it out.

Next the manager says he's fuming 😤

Well, my lad is getting released after 8 official years at Burnley. We’ve been going to Gawthorpe for over a decade- they’ve let players go in his position who have got scholars elsewhere; one lad behind him at Greater Manchester had 23 offers… meanwhile I am left applying for trials etc.

I have contacted every EFL club, and had one phone call to say thanks, but they are only offering college courses and not paid roles. A couple of unsuccessful trials prior to that (one I expected, one gobsmacked) how a decision can be made in a matter of hours I don’t know… A few coaches were really pissed off with the latter.

So now we’re on the road- trial matches, sessions etc. Worst case scenario he is looking at U19s in National League North, BTec qualifications. Hull City next week, EFL trials at York and St George’s Park next month. Yesterday… Forest Green Rovers. 3 clean sheets in 3 games, could do nothing more… doesn’t mean it will be enough though. Good experience though, and took in a few local sights

So I’d be going a feedback sandwich- great to get ahead, but we need to better. Pinpoint something each could maybe improve on, but more importantly what they did well, finish on well done for seeing it though- but let’s make small changes

Well done boys, enjoy your Sunday

Don't go for a trial at number 25.

Felt weird walking through it

If he gets a gig at FGR I’ll come down and watch. Anything for another weekend in Nailsworth!

Hope he gets fixed up. He’s a great lad, great character and a credit to you and the wife

Gay 😂

Speaking of goalkeepers.

daughter won 2-0 this morning

son won 3-2 yesterday. Both came up against absolutely incredible keeper performances. Could have scored 15+ on both games. Both also 8:45am kick offs, which was particularly bad after an all dayer yesterday

pub for midday, pints at the footy and straight out down Atherton high street  rolled in at 1:30am and had to be up at 7 🤢

Yep. 2nd match back. She absolutely smashed it. Ran the game from CM. Her use of the ball is ace. Never gives it away, always there to receive, beat a tackle and play it off. She sometimes struggles with using her body to buy an extra second when it’s busy and tight, so she’s working on just finding space instead. Doing it well.

Fleetwood Gym that.

We beat them 10-1 last season. They had a big reset and acquired 5 new players since we last played them.

Kind of felt good for them today. Spoke to their coach after the game and you could see how much work he'd put in.

Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree? She’ll do well mate

Nice - just spotted the blue and it looked familiar.

Ours have improved loads (in my opinion) since the previous manager stepped back to being a dad and let us get on with the coaching. We've deliberately taken away the fear - he was a bad shouter - and been more encouraging with results backing up our approach.

6-2 win for our lads on Saturday morning.

We had a 5 week break over Xmas and new year and I've been really impressed with how well the lads have done coming back, thought it might be tough after such a long break but they've done really well, and really pleasing to see some of the passing and moving coming through. Had a couple of spells of play in each game after Xmas of 5/6 passes from back to front.

Had a look around FCUM 🙈 last night as they are offering further education courses and a pathway to Step 7 football. Obvious disadvantages aside, seemed a decent set up; plus this absolute legend mithered me for a pic

Trevor Sinclair was running some kind of operation like that over this way based at Myerscough college at one point.

Sure it was linked with Jamie Milligan and Gavin McCann

There’s loads knocking about- hoping he’ll still get a scholar somewhere, but he’s got conditional offers at Radcliffe and FCUM- both of which should have clear pathways to first team and play in FA Youth Cup.

In other news, Josh Vela is starting coaching in LH next few weeks

Took Flynniesta last Friday for a taster sesh. Really basic stuff, but has to be when catering for all abilities. Still good though. Energetic and on the go from the very first second. Nothing you can't / didn't / don't do.. But it'll be twice the price at a tenner a week

With him doing Luke Joyce on a Thursday I don't think it's something we'll do regularly
