Adlington Trotter Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 Are there any under 8 leagues nearby that play on Sunday mornings? Pretty sure there are some, but can't find details when I search online. Looking to get the lad playing on a Sunday. Quote

Think it's goes to Sunday when it goes to 11-a-side. You might find privately run footy clubs and stuff mind. Quote

It’s mainly girls that play Sundays, but are bigger leagues if you’re happy to travel? Little Lever have teams in a league; I have attached a link, but if it doesn’t work Google getintofootball and apply necessary filters https://find.englandfootball.com/recommendations Quote
Kane57 Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 2pm kick off for the eldest this Sunday. Game has been reversed so we are having to go to fuckin Blackburn for it. Be pitch black by the time we're done ffs Quote
Dr Faustus Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 U7s/U8s parents- your coaches will likely have received an email from Everton today re a camp just before Christmas- if your player is elite, chase them up Quote
gonzo Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 My lads under 12s team on a 5k this morning. No rest for the best 🤣👏 20251227_091054_1.mp4 Quote
Kane57 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Bloody hell 😀 We've had a couple of offers for friendlies but declined thinking it was better for the kids (and coaches tbh) to have a break. Back on the 9th. Quote

Back on the 9th. My son’s coach put a poll on the WhatsApp group asking if we wanted to continue training and get a friendly or 2 on, or have a break. He was hoping for the latter. To his surprise it was almost overwhelmingly in favour of getting a couple of games on. He didn’t 😂 Quote
Kane57 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 What do you guys do in terms of logging appearances, goals, attendance at training etc? Thinking of putting summat on a spreadsheet that I can share with parents at the end of the season Quote

Thinking of putting summat on a spreadsheet that I can share with parents at the end of the season I know some do it- one U15 has a lot of every goal he’s ever scored! Personally, I don’t record goals etc and try to get parents not to award players for them; some parents can’t afford a fiver a goal some kids won’t score for years it creates selfish players (will always shoot even when passing is best option) it creates unnecessary pressure- I had one kid promised £50 off his dad if he bagged 20 goals in a season. Last game he was on 19 and was awful. You could see the stress in everything he did. I do believe in data though, it depends what you want to get out of it? If it’s to highlight areas of growth/achievement could be useful, but I reckon you’ll have people comparing and ultimately complaining. I’m assuming you’re a volunteer and a parent? Quote
Kane57 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Yeah volunteer coach and parent. Talking about a shared spreadsheet really so totally objective about number of appearances etc. Just very basic and I'd like to share with parents at the end of the season without them thinking a 10 year old made it Quote

Kane57 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Not awarding any prizes on the back of it, just there for info really Quote

My only suggestion would be not to share as team but individually… only opening yourself up if parents start comparing Quote
Popular Post Kane57 Posted January 18 Popular Post Posted January 18 First game in 6 weeks today - against Chipping (away - 45mins drive ffs) at 9am - was worried the lads would be rusty but deservedly won 2-1 with mine scoring a last minute winner and getting MOTM. Brilliant. Quote

Brilliant. Jesus that is in the wilderness! Lovely part of the world mind. This lot won yesterday 3-1 in a fierce clash away at squires gate. Team of bully bruisers with a cock of a manager swearing and kicking off all game made it all the more sweeter Today my under 15s lost 5-4 against a south shore team Spirit of Youth. Bent lino disallowed a goal for us in the last minute. They were dicks after too. Rumbled on all the way to the carpark and ended up fisticuffs. I got squared up to by a 15 year old and offered to break his dad's nose in return. What lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon 🤣🤦♂️ Quote
Kane57 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Love that I followed through with making a spreadsheet to track stuff - looks like this, if anyone is interested. There are also tabs for fixtures, logging who played and training, logging who attended. In two minds about sharing this with parents, don't want those who come to fewer games feeling like I'm having a pop at their attendance. Need to sort that goal difference out. Quote

No way should you be sharing that with parents or kids JSL. Quote

Dr Faustus Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Defo this Ok, devils advocate… one kid missing for a bit, or say once a month for ‘personal reasons’ you’re aware of, but parents aren’t. They’ll likely spot a trend and question it. I would only share their own kids data. Quote

This seems a bit OTT to me. Download Football Manager if you want to be Statto. Just let the kids enjoy playing football. Quote
