boltonboris Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I agree with some of the other comments. It's great information for you to have access to for your own needs, but I don't see any benefits sharing it with the parents / players. You can have it up your sleeve for when someone thinks they;re had done to on playing minutes etc if required. You can maybe have it broken down into "the whole team had a total training attendance record of 85%, let's see if we can increase this and let us know privately if you need help achieving it" or whatever, but player by player could cause issues and knowing some parents, maybe some GDPR / Privacy issues, that you really don't want. Use the data, don't share it Quote
boltonboris Posted January 19 Posted January 19 On another note, daughters first game back since she broke her arm in October / November time. 11 v 10 on a massive 3G pitch and she was carrying a knock due to flying off a treadmill 🤣, but she didn;t want to leave the team down to 9 players.. 2-0 defeat in a close game, but they do seem to have regressed a bit whilst she was out. Just no rhythm and shape was all over the show.. Son scored a back heel from a training ground corner routine to open the scoring in a 3-2 win.. Great to see things they work on coming off. Probably no better feeling for his coaches then seeing the kids carry out your instructions and score from it! Quote
Kane57 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) Love that. Great story. The other coach for us has started filming on a Go Pro for a YouTube channel featuring his kid as goalkeeper. It's good fun tbh and the lads love it too but it seems to be more and more prevalent in our league. Edited January 19 by Kane57 Quote

One of them is a really exceptional player, but plays at a much, much, much lower level than he should. Run rings around everyone. Gets it off the keeper, beats every player and slams it in x 8 times per match. Absolutely no fun for anyone and nobody is learning anything from games he's involved in, but hey.. Looks mint on the 'gram! Quote

Seeing even the basics like passing and tracking back improving for each player is genuinely so good to see. Our lads have had a couple of moves in the last 2 games of 6/7 passes before taking a shot, where they are actually looking at where the pass is rather than just lumping it in a general direction. Kane57 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Banger! Not sure how legit it is. He's not the type to go to the oppo and ask for permission. Same with the Veo kit Quote

This lot won yesterday 3-1 in a fierce clash away at squires gate. Team of bully bruisers with a cock of a manager swearing and kicking off all game made it all the more sweeter Today my under 15s lost 5-4 against a south shore team Spirit of Youth. Bent lino disallowed a goal for us in the last minute. They were dicks after too. Rumbled on all the way to the carpark and ended up fisticuffs. I got squared up to by a 15 year old and offered to break his dad's nose in return. What lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon 🤣🤦♂️ Your lads have a really smart kit there 👍 Quote

There are also tabs for fixtures, logging who played and training, logging who attended. In two minds about sharing this with parents, don't want those who come to fewer games feeling like I'm having a pop at their attendance. Need to sort that goal difference out. Coming from experience in another (team sport) I'd say collect and record what you want if its just for yourself or sharing with a coaching team, be wary, as others have said, about sharing with parents, either individually or collectively. It's useful to have to hand to refer to if you're having to have a conversation with a parent about their lad or girl, but I'd be minded to keep it in my possession. I've done some work over the last 18 months for an England development programme at indoor cricket. We were selecting a squad to take part in an international tournament in India last October. A lot of data was pulled together, mainly to monitor progress / identify areas for improvement but also to inform selection decisions. It was really useful for the coaching team but it stayed with us. Quote
royal white Posted January 19 Posted January 19 My 3 were back at it at the weekend. Eldest in clitheroe for a 9:45am KO - lost 3-2 Middle lad in little Hulton for a 9am KO - Drew 1-1 Youngest (5) at monsall for an 8am KO (floodlights needed) lost 7-6 Thankfully we have grandad who loves watching otherwise we would be snookered. Who remembers the good days of the Bolton boys Fed? Moss bank, eagley, AFC, atherton Colls, Atherton LR, Westhoughton Rangers and a few others. Ridiculous some of these leagues and distances now. Dr Faustus Posted January 19 Posted January 19 BBDFL have tried rebranding as North West Football Trust- 1033 teams, 18000 players. It’s massive Quote

Was peel and north walkden when I was a lad round our way No- Peel was set up by my brother over 30 years ago. I helped him get into coaching, lending him my stuff- he ended up doing Futbol de Salon with Simon Clifford, met Socrates, John Farnworth etc. Did a bit at Bolton too. Stan Taylor set up Winders (he worked there at the time), I was part of the older team for a while, but a year too young. They became Sketchleys as they took over sponsorship, think they may have been called Little Hulton Lads after that. Amblecote set up a few years later (1992) from said estate, initially as Falcon Rangers. As they grew they took the name of the council ward, North Walkden. They are current Open Age Manchester County Cup holders. Peel split off around 1996 As far as I am aware, I’m the only person to have played for that first Amblecote team, and North Walkdens 1st and Vets Quote

royal white Posted January 19 Posted January 19 One thing pissing me Off with GR footy at the moment is playing behind cages on 4G. My lad played away at Bramhall the other week for school, now when we are at home the teacher lets parents stand inside the fence line so that they can actually see the game. On this occasion the ref, a guy in his 50s, had a power trip on and came over demanding we go on the outside of the fence. When asked why, it’s to do with kids safety and protection. 🤷🏻♂️ protection from what? There was loads of space around the pitch. To make it worse this was one these pitches where there wasn’t full access all the way round so there’s 15/20 parents all stood behind the net being able To see next to fuck all. Anyway the game ran over and the pitch was pre booked, so the last 20 mins were played out on the grass where we could stand practically on the line. Someone make it make sense Quote
