They've set a target date of 2030 to remove all 'rainforest sourced products' from their supply chain. There'll probably be a good acreage of the Amazon left by then, probably about the size of Belgium. Ample for utilising as 'The Planet's Lungs'. If the planet was a double-pnuemonia Covid patient with end stage COPD, A.I.D.s and a sixty a day Red Marlboro habit. People will often say 'what's the point?' of the 'west' curbing consumption and emissions etc. when there's billions of Indians, Chinese, Indonesians, Brazilians et al ready to take up the slack and start driving American muscle cars, building tyre-fired power stations and eating 6lb of sirloin steak a day... Well there is a point - Sir David makes it, often. There's plenty rapists out there, we were discussing signing one ffs. Why curb our rapaciousness when there's loads out there a rapin' - it's pointless... Edited December 29, 20205 yr by Youri McAnespie

December 29, 20205 yr I don't think i've ever watched an hour long David Attenborough documentary from start to finish, I find the subject he covers slightly tedious. It's not that i've got a short attention span I can happily sit through Michael Palin travel documentaries for an hour but im just not that interested in the likes of giraffes, hummingbirds and whales however well the commentator talks about them.
December 29, 20205 yr What I find particularly interesting about him, is the fact that, by his own admission, he was initially doing his work in an environmentally damaging way. He didn't know at the time, and as knowledge grew, turned it all around to become the man we know. If he can do it, so can millions more.
