I liked the Architect. It's near the racecourse so a bit of a hike though

Yeah, I like the Architect, it's where I normally head on race days.

Was in Chester on Wednesday, busy as fook but was surprised to see quite a few scutters/smackrats/scrotes/ beggers etc, but thats the UK in general these days i s’pose. Loads of great old pubs in the City centre, can’t go wrong really - miles better than York imo.

Never better than York. Chester is lively but no.

we started at the Bull & Stirrup  its a Spoons

top of Northgate st

there are about 10 good pubs on there

get to the Bottom you hit the main bit  in the middle of Eastgate  Westgate

Another shout for the architect. We started then ended up in lovely gaff on the corner just before the main drag, black place with all flames and shit going on.

Theres an ace gaff in middle, ill get the name off our peg.

Square bottle one of the better spoons about good place to meet

corner house

town crier

I don't do Spoons, folks.

Be reet, I'll do my usual and just stand at the door of the pub I've just been in and just head to the first one that catches my eye.

Much better than having an itinerary.

Don't go, I went socially once and found it to be an awful place. There are some nice enough buildings to look at  but the people are horrible, posh Scousers and there is a Liverpool FC souvenir shop there

Liverpool > United all day.

In fact ABU.

As for today, I should say that both the wife & I are self employed sole traders, so there's only the two of us on our joint Xmas do!
Hotel is booked, so all I need is ale for me, gin for her and a kebab or curry late on.
Any upgrade on that is just a bonus.

Best kind of Christmas do. No chance of being sacked for being a dick like me 😁

Always found that there’s a lot more decent pubs in Chester than York.

Yeah, I suppose, although there's still possibly too many people on the trip for my liking :D

The Brewery Tap was good. Nice place, good beer.  On Lower Bridge Street.
