Cheap Laptop advice

Featured Replies

Hi,

Looking to buy a refurbished or used Laptop for no more than about £120.00, I just need one so I can watch Sky Go for my footy and TV etc. I recently bought a Chromebook which is no longer compaitable with Sky Go, so just want something with Windows 10 ideally.

Any advice or links for a cheap Laptop would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

Iirc, a few have mentioned a place in Manchester that caters for folk requiring such things.

Not sure of the name, but I'm sure Google will help.

If you can stretch another 50 or 60 quid you can get a brand new one from Currys with a 12 month guarantee. Got the wife  a 15.6 Asus for £179 at Christmas

Good luck if you get an Asus, I got an Asus Vivobook in May 2020, paid £350, I am now looking for a new laptop, it is and has been crap, I'm looking at a Lenovo Thinkpad or Idealpad, deared but has to be better

It's tier1online.com

Lucky to find anything on there for 120, they tend to be higher spec and 249 and upwards, unless it's a chromebook. Oh hang on..

My Mrs got one in November for work similar sort of price and it's fucked already. Needs to be sent back.

I have been told off a couple of people since that they have had them and they weren't good, I have a Lenovo Thinkpad for work and it is very good

apparently they are releasing an update next month to fix this

Got three Lenovo ones for the kids for xmas - perfect for browsing, games, watching TV - real bargain, £130 each I think. Plus they are durable as the kids take them everywhere.

Oh, that's interesting, thanks for the heads up.

Just bitten the bullet and ordered a Lenovo Thinkpad, £504 off Amazon,

Hi all,

Thanks for letting us know about Sky Go crashing on your Chromebook device and thanks to all the feedback we believe we have identified the issue. We will be putting in a fix for this in our next Sky Go update due in April (date TBC).

I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

I've got a dell. Love it, its a workhorse. Not too flashy and does everything really well.

I do only use it for work though.

The missus has an Acer and despite it having an i7 processor and plenty of RAM it is a pile of dogshit compared to my HP that is lower spec. No idea why like.

I've stopped buying from HP/Dell, all my PC's/laptops are purchased from https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/  Get more for the same price of a HP/Dell. Curry's sell some of there PC's.

Personally, I wouldn't touch any branded name expect HP/Dell. Acer/Lenovo  have been dogshite on the ones I've inherited, then replaced.

Had Lenovos at work a while back, they were garbage. Moved onto Dells, and they’re alright except a bug that fucks my microphone for Teams/Zooms that they can’t fix.

Bought a HP Pavillion yesterday as a family one - junior for homework, me for streaming footy etc - only had it a day but so far so good
