May 23, 20224 yr Anyone any experience of working there ? Yoof might be doing some work for a few weeks/months over there
May 26, 20224 yr We asked this local couple with their baby to take a picture of us near the Burj thingy. They then passed us their camera and we just thought they wanted a picture themselves. Which is often the protocol. They then passed my wife their baby and they wanted a picture of their baby with westerners next to the tower

I don't think they could get a place together They could each have their own place and then spend all their time at one of them. Got mate out there who has to do this, and when out there (5 years ago) a mate of his thought he and his bird had been rumbled one night when the police knocked on their door, proper panic but turns out they were just returning a lost wallet
May 26, 20224 yr Just asked him: "No they scrapped that. You can live with someone now - you still can't get legally get pregnant out of wedlock but even that isnt really an issue anymore. My mate and his missus are pregnant and he has only just got divorced from his last wife!"
May 26, 20224 yr Dubai is probably the most liberal of the emirates. The supermarkets sell alcohol and have special areas for non-Muslims and sell pork and other non-halal foods. My lad and his gf went and nobody batted an eyelid they weren’t married. I think, certainly in hotels, as long as whatever you get up to is done away from public viewing, you’ll be reset.

Muslim and skint = Do as we say.
May 26, 20224 yr They’ve simply hit upon a decent formula for attracting Western tourists; don’t be too Islamic. It’s precisely why it’s so popular.

My mate is currently in Saudi working on the neon project, the big cheese over there wants a part to be the next Dubai. Talking Ski resorts and all sorts. He wants tunnels through mountains with electric trains etc. Money is no object as you can imagine. Plus a bit of sportswashing to clean up the image of the place

It's absolutely no problem at all. It used to be that only married couples could live together but the rule was ignored and never really implemented. Thay have since got rid of the rule entirely. I live with my bird, it really isn't any consideration at all.
