  1. I'd say break the bank & get Phil Brown in if you want a Bolton old boy (has to be a better bet than Big Sam & more modern approach than Rioch) but unfortunately he is currently managing a bigger club than BWFC & therefore I doubt he'd leave to join a club that gets struggles to get 20,000 at home & only takes an away following if the coaches are free.
  2. having said that he would never have got us playing the football Rioch did for those glorious few years so like you've all said Rioch in my eyes would be welcome back at Bolton if / when we lose patience with Megson - I predict some miserable football & 17th place this season + a new manager for next
  3. as well as Andy Walker Phil Neal also signed Phil Brown for next to nothing in 88', McAteer for a bag of footballs & brought Stubbs through the ranks. Think we ended up with about ?8m for McAteer & Stubbs so Phil does deserve some credit for allowing Rioch to come in with a few decent players on the books & making us some cash.
  4. Spurs away in the quarter final of the league cup about 5 or 6 years ago , left at half time. I think we (well our reserves) were 4-0 down by then. Luckily I was living in Enfield so was home & tucked up in bed by 10.
  5. ? almost everybody on the thread said Reading, I don't think they meant the 1-0 defeat the season before last - which was probably one of the worst performances I've ever seen (& could go on the other thread to be fair)
  6. maybe not top three but memorable never the less - both games vs Blackpool in 89' to get to Wembley - including inflatable pigs http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/matchday...l-0-.1813074.jp
  7. Spurs, Bolton & Draw (Fulham / Brum) - pays about ?500 & we're still safe I'm on that
  8. best midfield player we have. we never look like puttin 2 passes together unless he's involved in the move. agree he can't run anymore but the rest are that bad on the ball it we still need him.
  9. He's the only player we have that can pass the ball 10yards in a straight line, consistantly, without giving it away. His positional play is also 100 times better than most of the other cloggers we have in midfield. Thats why he is in the team. He just can't run.
  10. not offside ? absolutely unbelievable - just becasue the defender tries to head clear in case Phillips runs on to it doesn't mean someone stood 2-0 yards offside becomes on-side. i presume this is a wind up however
  11. Zico Spot on , football in England is now like football in Scotland from an interest point of view (except we have 4 teams who can win trophies , not 2) Also more of a general point on this thread, football is no longer a sport but a business & therefore boardrooms don't care if there are only 8000 fans on the ground for FA Cup games as long as they get the ?50 million or so from Sky for being in the premiership the following season Sport becoming a business has taken all the 'romance' out of the game & this will never change unless people stop watching / paying to watch football on TV at which point all the owners of the clubs will sell up fast & the game will return to its roots.
  12. don't worry, Michael Ricketts is available on a free.
  13. George - great double that , will probably pay about 5/1 so like you say, win either way
  14. Location, Location , Location as they say - building a football ground is just like buying a house. If you want it to be popular it needs to be in the right place. Just look at Juventus , one of the biggest clubs in Europe, build a stadium out of town & you've got thousands of empty seats. If they had re-developed Burnden last night would have been sold out twice over regardless of ticket price. I live in Bournemouth & have no inclination to go to the Reebok Stadium again in my life due to the whole experience . Lokomotiv Plovdiv away or Bayern Munich away then any day of the week & I'll try to go + spend money in the process.
  15. He is the most committed player we have & has been for a while. Legend is a bit strong, McGinlay did score all his goals in the lower leagues so tough to compare the 2 in that way. I agree with Fester though, he needs to score more goals than he does (but so does Diouf & everyone loves him too) If we sell Anelka we could still be in trouble this season due to lack of goalscorers.
  16. ive got 3 in 339 as well if anyone wants them - i guess not & it looks like there are going to be quite a few empty seats at this rate ! have we sold our allocation yet ?
  17. Don't lose this thread some great ideas coming out - we should nominate 4 or 5 away games per season & have Wanderers Ways piss ups, meet up in designated boozers before & after the game knowing there will be a few hundred others with you will make it much more appealing to move my lazy arse from Bournemouth to whereever the game was. I'm fairly new to this forum so maybe you do tyhis already ? if not,one of you nutters with about 6,000,000 posts to your name with nothing else better to do should take respnsibility for organising. First game I propose is BAYERN MUNICH away - I recon we could raise about 4000 or so for that one ! haha
  18. come on then sweepstake on the Boro attendance for Sunday 11th ?10,000 a man to enter, we'll give 50% of the proceeds to Jon Arne Riise as he needs the money by the looks of his wage slip. my guess is 17,245
  19. yep - cash only turnstiles ! remember them , easy access. Lack of them definately puts off a lot of people who'd otherwise turn up last minute + drops down away following as well. get rid of tickets ! every man for himself
  20. 3 ways to bring back atmosphere 1) create singing section behind the goal & make ticket prices ?15 permanently in that section - it would be full every week 2) take the seats out in any section of the ground (if terraces become legal again) 3) move the ground back into Bolton where people can have a good drink before the game 2 won't happen because there are too many do-gooders knocking about the world , 3 is not pysically possible as I don't think the ground would fit down Chorley New Road & as long as I am overweight I don't think the club will have the sense to do number 1 therefore you're all doomed. luckily i moved to Bournemouth some time ago so don't hav eto attend the Reebok too often - I'll just stck to the awayday p**s ups
  21. Sumo

    Block 339

I have 3 tickets in block 339 on their way over from Munich , I don't need them now as I've got tickets for the away end - if anyone wants them let me know they can have them for cost (25 EUR + postage)
  22. Marco Boogers , look him up - West Ham , couple of million I think , sent off on debut vs Man Utd , never played again + ended up living in a caravan
  23. yep - someone told him it was Geaorge Weah's cousin , put him on the bench without ever watching him, put him on as sub then re-substiuted him 15 minutes later never to be seen again.
  24. nice expensive suits , talks a great game, will kick people in training, buys bad defenders by the bucketload.
