What the fuck is anyone doing accepting asylum applications from sodding Tunisia?? Our European comrades are going to have to catch up. Where counter-terrorism is concerned there's us, the Americans and the Israelis and everyone else is shit. And there ought to be a special place in hell reserved for those who commit acts of terrorism against the country which gives them sanctuary.

The SNP want the polls to consistently say that 60% intend to vote yes before they will call one. The most recent poll a week or two ago, in amongst all the talk of leaving the single market and the customs union, had yes at 43%. This is why the PM is trying to bribe them to support the Brexit plan with a second independence referendum, safe in the knowledge that in all likelihood the union will be safe. Brexit so far has coincided with a fall in support for independence. I see no reason that Scotland won't do very well indeed out of Brexit. Independence of course, followed by re-joining the EU, would mean Schengen and the euro, plus a second surrender of its fishing industry, and I do not see Scotland voting for that. That's before consideration of the oil price.

You're all lovely people I'm certain, brought down by the system!

What was that, Yellow Belly was it? Mine are stored away. Hopefully to be a pleasant surprise if it's dug out by accident whilst moving house in about 25 years time. I think they did another version which I got a few of too but I can't recall. The future is China. The boring traditional stuff from France etc seems to cut it with the Chinese pretense to high culture whereas this is not the case with drinkers now used to crazy 11% cheesecake and chilli flavoured beers and trendy gin. The Times said recently say that buying wine in bonds is the most lucrative, lowest risk thing you can do for a long term investment with a pile of idle cash.

Impossible to read that and maintain even a second's worth of regard for the NHS. It's a fucking disgrace.

AA Gill on the Welsh: "loquacious, dissemblers, immoral liars, stunted, bigoted, dark, ugly, pugnacious little trolls". AA Gill on the Isle of Man: "...managed to slip through a crack in the space-time continuum… fallen off the back of the history lorry to lie amnesiac in the road to progress […] its main industry is money (laundering, pressing, altering and mending) …everyone you actually see is Benny from Crossroads or Benny in drag…. The weather's foul, the food's medieval, it's covered in suicidal motorists and folk who believe in fairies." AA Gill on Norfolk: "the hernia on the end of England"

It has the seats it deserves. It's a tricky place actually becasue Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Dundee and Aberdeen aside practically no bastard lives there. So they have a struggle to find the requisite 70 to 77 thousand people who live in an area below the size limit in square miles. The island constituencies don't count as the rules are different. The SNP could find themselves with all fifty seats under the new arrangements so they shouldn't whine too much.

I saw him not long ago at the Wolseley. Yes yes, I was at the Wolseley. I liked him, though I don't think he really needed to shoot that baboon. Amazing he made it to 62. People often said that he wrote the way he spoke. The reason for that is that he was severely dyslexic and spoke his pieces down the phone to someone at the office.

Well no you see because they're proven and by definition, therefore, no longer theories.

The people of Leigh may soon put this to the test if the rumours about Nuttall standing for Burnham's seat are true. Exactly the sort of place they should be targeting.

Everything is a question of logic. Reason must trump emotion a thousand times out of a thousand where spending other people's money is concerned. There is no rational reason this proposal is necessary.
-
This fails the logic test. The only way a child's death is any different than a young or middle aged adult is that it's more tragic. In recent years I lost mates aged 21 to a brain tumour and aged 26 in a motorbike crash. No-one suggested their funerals should be paid for. Logically the argument surely must follow that the taxpayer pay for all unexpected funerals? It sounds harsh but I am not seeing what logical argument can be made for a family's tragedy automatically being all of our responsibility.

My speciality is backing the foreigner against the Brit who isn't as good as people think. Klitscko beating Haye, who embarrassed himself as I knew he would, paid for our holiday that year. I'd like Bellew to win as Haye is detestable, one of the worst humans ever. I'm not quite seeing how he can though, even against a talentless fraud like Haye.. It will be boring I think and the build up unbearable.

There was a Sainsbury's Taste The |Difference Irish single malt a few years ago which was spectacular at about 18 quid. It was Midleton, I think, in Sainsbury's whiskers. That Old Engine Oil ale is I think the Tesco house porter as well, all they do is change the label. Anyhow, lots of time in airports plus a Scottish wife and in-laws = love the stuff. Get on Master of Malt and buy some of their samples. And Ardbeg Uigaedial burning church lovers - get on the Corryvreckan. The same thing but more betterer.

And no Tarquin has shoed it three furlongs into the stand yet to avoid getting tackled by the bigger boys. And I can't help but notice the absence of any five minute scrums.

Shame. Read a big biography of him a few years ago. He was a total sex legend. He cheated extravagantly on every woman he'd ever been with and probably shagged thousands all told. Oh and he had some good music too. His version of The Partisan, an old French Resistance song, can bring a lump to my throat at times.

Trump got 600k less votes than McCain and 1.7 million less than Romney. 9% of registered democrats voted for him. The third parties got 6% this time compared with 2% last. Proof, if you needed it, that he won on the basis of Clinton's total and utter unsuitability for the presidency. She was deemed a worse bet than Donald Trump. Some of you laughed months ago when I pointed out why her name is dirt halfway across America.

I wonder if the BBC will eventually get round to a semblance of balance by having someone on who either knows Trump, or even supports him. I am not generally for BBC-bashing, but it's been pisspoor since it was evident he was going to win. Newsnight even played The Fool On The Hill by The Beatles to open one piece about him. Pathetic. An entire panel prattled on about his foreign policy for about half an hour and not one of them knew him or had ever had to deal with him, let alone support him. Paul Merton made a joke about shooting him on Have I Got News For You and the crowd loved it. Had he said the same about Osama bin Laden he'd have been pilloried.
-
I'm not sure that will end up being the case when all have declared, including Arizona and Michigan where he's in front and in Minnesota where the third parties have done well (to her cost everywhere else) but ironic if it does turn out that way, that's how she was meant to rig it! Fifth time it's happened I think if it does, most recent being 2000 when Bush beat Gore. The electoral college system is supposed to stop candidates aiming to win elections by simply getting massive results in the likes of California and Florida

The most interesting little snippet so far is that 9% of registered Dems voted Trump whereas 7% of registered Republicans voted Clinton. So all the news of Republicans abandoning their party, well, it was actually happening more the other way. The Clinton soap opera was getting boring and 9% of her own voted for, of all people, Donald Trump because they were sick of it. They will have to choose candidates now based on something other than it just being their turn and try to persuade people by means other than getting multi millionaire celebrities to slag the other side off.

She wouldn't have been! It was more of being shat on. Their health premiums have gone through the ceiling due to an Obamacare policy they hate and she has not said a single thing all campaign that even hinted at any interest in working and lower middle class people whatsoever. And they're supposed to be the leftists! Trump might be an arse but at least his rhetoric has told ordinary working people, especially white ones, that he is interested in them, cos no-one else is. It was a terrible statement of how out of touch the Democrats have become that the best choice they could come up with was an self-anointed career politician whose name is dirt with half the population, who'd have spent her entire Presidency in congressional hearings trying to explain away prior misdemeanors and an octogenarian near-communist. I don't know why anyone should be surprised at the result. Which, to be selfish about it, is much better news for Brexit Britain than Clinton. Trump will fail of course and lots of his supporters will be very disappointed by the next four years but this might at least give the Democrats a chance to move on from the Clinton dynasty as they enter the obscurity they deserve. In what way can this possibly be true???
-
Sure, those and all the others.

One of these days the elites will learn that they need to pay attention to the humble little man who goes to work every day, feeds his family, says nothing and then once every now and again, votes.
-
Awful choice. I hope she loses. Trump won't be able to enact any of his promises and will be such a failure that his brand of candidate will never be successful again and everyone will reflect on a crazy few years. She will also fail, possibly even more miserably, which will put in disarray the entire system of which she is a product. I would vote Trump in expectations of his failure, understanding that the American system is designed to stop maniacs doing what they like, to kill his type for good and encourage the kind of thinking about what it is that's wrong with a system that produced these two candidates.
