Alvor is quite nice,family resort, plenty of bars and restaurants (outdoor barbecues fresh fish etc) It isn't very lively but for about 8 euros you can get a taxi to Praia Da Rocha which is very lively. Beaches are excellent all over the Algarve.

I've worked with a PSG fan last week and asked him about going in there end. He said it will probably be alright if you stay away from behind the goals. Ultras go there and he said they will have a pop at any English.
