Everton & Spurs
Spurs get decent attendances for UEFA games because for quite a big percentage of their fanbase it's one of very few opportunities they get to watch their team. Spurs sell out every home league game and have done for years. The UEFA Cup and the League Cup are opportunites for supporters who aren't season ticket holders or members to go to watch their team. Spurs don't need to encourage their regular supporters (STHs and members) who go to league games to also go to the Cup games because for every one that doesn't bother they can replace them with a fan who doesn't usually go. That's not the case with Bolton is it. I imagine that for many league games a non-member could buy a ticket. So, for all the Bolton fans that don't want to/can't afford to go to the European games, there aren't replacements lined up to take their seat. Presumably, the board need to look for ways to encourage their regulars to buy tickets for early rounds of the UEFA?

Do You Support Gary Megson?
Do people think Megson will be able to handle/motivate some of the better players? Will Diouf/Anelka etc be off in January?

Breaking News On Bbc Sport
I'm quite disappointed. No more 'fat, he's round, he bounces on the ground, Sammy Lee' chants.* Oh and Sammy - you were ragging offside you cheating little bastard. *Yes for an old man I am quite childish and do sometimes still get my Bottom Live VHS' out and giggle at fart jokes and toilet humour.

Arsenal
Er one of the reasons he wanted out was because Wenger kept playing him wide right. Agree with Pires and Edu being good signings. Just pointing out he lost (quite a lot of) money on them. Van Bronckhorst hardly played. Hence flop.

Fun to play devils advocate occassionally!

Of course managers can't make money on every player and I agree some of the players listed were good buys. All I was pointing out is that Wenger's transfer record isn't as great as people like to make out. Fergie's flops and the money he has spent are well documented, Wenger's aren't. I've never understood why. Fergie has won the European Cup and back to back titles how many times? Wenger hasn't managed to do either of those things.

Agreed. But then other clubs would have sold them earlier and got a fee in for them instead of letting their contracts expire. A lot less. But only due to the fact that his budget has been a lot smaller (until now). If he'd had the money to spend, he would have done. Possibly. Though WHU haven't spent much when you take into account sales, unlike Newcastle, Villa etc. Very probably. Depends what the criteria is I suppose.

Sylvain Wiltord - Bought for ?13m, released on a free Jose Antonio Reyes - Bought for ?10.5m, released on a free Giovanni van Bronckhorst - Bought for ?8.5m, released on a free Edu - Bought for ?6m, released on a free Nw*nkwu Kanu - Bought for ?4.5m, released on a free Robert Pires - Bought for ?6m, released on a free Francis Jeffers - Bought for ?8m, sold for ?2.6m Richard Wright - Bought for ?6m, sold for ?3.5m Matthew Upson - Bought for ?2m, sold for ?1m Gilles Grimandi - Bought for ?2.5m, released on a free Luis Boa Morte - Bought for ?1.75m, sold for ?0.5m Jermaine Pennant - Bought for ?2m, released on a free Oleg Luzhny - Bought for ?1.8m, released on a free Igor Stepanovs - Bought for ?1m, released on a free Wenger's transfer record IMO is superior to Ferguson's, i'm just highlighting some of Wenger's mistakes because it seems to be forgotten by many that he's not infallible.

Agreed. He has still bought his fair share of duffs though.

Not true. In 1986 Highbury would have held a lot more than the 38,000 it did a couple of years ago. The North Bank and The Clock End were still terraces then. Health & Safety measures would probably have meant it wasn't allowed to hold the 60,000 it used to, but I bet the official capacity was well over 50,000.
