I wouldnt bet on it, most will probably still have something else to do: feed the dog, wash the windows etc

I'm not one for having a pop at individuals for not turning up, if they don't want to go that their choice.

But what does baffle me is the vast difference in numbers between games.

 

To me i go to see a game because i go to see Bolton Wanderers i want to see them play wether they're playing Barnsley or Bayern.

 

I understand peoples financial balance has to be right which is why i don't go to as many away games as i'd like but the sheer difference in numbers between matches is bizare

I wonder if a lot of fans stayed away in protest at the manegerial appointment.....not all, but some.

Well go and support Everton or Spurs then.

Spurs went up with us in 1978 and have been there ever since.

 

Everton have been in the top flight for 54 years.

 

We spent a good while in the bottom two divisions during the mid-80s, early 90s.

 

Eleven year olds don't want to support third division rubbish.

And they're clubs in cities. Both of them get lots of support up & down the country, and in Everton's case they can claim a lot of Welsh fans.

 

But we're starting to sounds more and more like City fans now!

Spurs get decent attendances for UEFA games because for quite a big percentage of their fanbase it's one of very few opportunities they get to watch their team.

 

Spurs sell out every home league game and have done for years.

 

The UEFA Cup and the League Cup are opportunites for supporters who aren't season ticket holders or members to go to watch their team.

 

Spurs don't need to encourage their regular supporters (STHs and members) who go to league games to also go to the Cup games because for every one that doesn't bother they can replace them with a fan who doesn't usually go.

 

That's not the case with Bolton is it. I imagine that for many league games a non-member could buy a ticket. So, for all the Bolton fans that don't want to/can't afford to go to the European games, there aren't replacements lined up to take their seat.

At the moment, our board couldn't fill the ground even if they gave the tickets away for free. Fans woulds still moan that there was still travelling expenses, etc.

 

But irrespective of the reasons, I cannot see Anelka, Diouf and Jaaskelainen wanting to play in front of pitiful crowds for too much longer.

Being based in a CITY with a bigger population has also got a lot to do with it.

 

When Bolton became Greater Mancs instead of Lancs, a lot of the Lancastrian prdie left the people of the next generation. It is no longer such a sin to follow Utd or City as they are local teams as part of the Grt Mancs umbrella
