  1. 5 subs and didn’t get a sniff
  2. 🤣 Point taken
  3. I’ll take this as a small win that you are at least kind of listening to me. But not that much as all you’ve done is quote yourself. I’m actually with @Rival Son about you having a voice on here - room for everyone. But it would be so much more welcoming if you actually dug a little deeper into what I was saying rather than quote yourself. Yes you are correct BWFCITC is a long running charity arm of the club. But it was on its arse and completely dysfunctional before Sharon came. It is now thriving. Look at the key headline figures from their latest impact report. Across the season as a collective, both BWFC and BWitC have generated £4,372,766.24 in social value across four key areas; Physical health £316,745.35, Mental health £3,537,610.97, Community and Social £83,158.13 and Education and Employability £435,251.81 Highlights from the season include: A total of 1,455 free lunches over the summer period to 221 individuals as part of our Bolton Lunches partnership with Urban Outreach. Over 1,000 children engaged in anti-discrimination workshops throughout the year. Feedback from our Premier League Inspires programmes shows a 72.5% improvement in participants’ mental well-being. 90% of men we interact with reported their anxiety has decreased through Team Talk 95% of Extra Time Hub attendees report an improvement in their social wellbeing I’m sure everyone knows there are more worthy causes to change lives than BWFC - of course there are, but I think it’s disingenuous to belittle Sharon’s social responsibility in taking on her role. Yes, Sharon, Nick, Michael and the Americans are not solely involved with Bolton Wanderers to change lives for the better, as you say they could have gone to a million places to do this. For everything that owning a football club brings either altruistically or for other reason, (lots unknown to us) it is a massive pull for lots of business folk to get involved in football ownership I don’t think we need anymore debate on the above as I am into waffling stage too! But here’s the thing I hope you are not closing your mind to and your last post suggests you might be more willing to listen. There IS (not more than hospitals) a real positive difference you can make to a community and have a real impact with, if you are the right owners and run the club properly. Sharon “Gets it” and that being the owners of Bolton Wanderers means you have a responsibility and commitment to the town. Something which she takes very seriously and is doing fantastically well with. If we can agree on that, then we can hopefully move on 😊
  4. Well there we go. Complete avoidance 😂
  5. If you really are looking at me to respond to your “worthy causes” claim, while trying to dodge my questions, then I think @Zico and @Lt. Aldo Raine answer this much better than what I could. (See their responses above) Anyway all that is miles away from the point I’m making. So you have a choice now, keep blabbering on to me about hospitals, avoiding the point at hand. Or acknowledge/answer the below. Do you not agree @Rival Son ’s list of achievements under FVs is impressive? And can you not see that; Bolton Wanderers in the Community have done/are doing great work (beyond fat clubs), which is making a a real positive difference to the lives of those in the Bolton Community? And these are all reasons why Sharon/FV “get it”
  6. Why on earth are you going back to hospitals and cancer with me! That’s your beef with Krimzon, who I think has every right to be aggrieved with you.
  7. Must have missed (which feasibly could have happened) the bit where you acknowledge/give credit to @Rival Son who offered some excellent advice in looking at the impact FV have had and also on what you could do in the future to see what the majority of us are seeing; “If you haven’t spotted that, perhaps you spend less time reading financial statements and get out a bit more. It’s not just about the money.” You completely ignored looking beyond fat clubs as to the impact Bolton Wanderers in the community have across the town. https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/bolton-wanderers-community-release-2024-25-impact-report
  8. I’d have a bit more respect for you @Sluffy if you acknowledged and accepted opposite sides of the debate. As opposed to going off on a tangent and comparing saving BWFC to saving Townleys, as this would save more lives. Talk about folk being in a bubble, I think you need to step out of yours. Do you not realise you spend most of your considerable time on here bamboozling everyone (including yourself) with over-complicated financial fantasies?
  9. Top of the league start for the whites! Love it! Not bad Deano for a squad that’s on its arse! 🤣
  10. Not sure on that… Plenty of deals still to be done yet across the EFL/EPL. And one or two more for us I expect. No reason why these deals, or any others, won’t go to the wire.
  11. While your point has some merit, like @tomski and @Lt. Aldo Raine said, in no way is this just a #bwfc issue. Football fans in general are like this, some actually a lot worse than us. You only have to listen to talk sport for 5 mins. But you are right. And I think it’s getting worse. Reality TV and the sport fan version of this, Talk Sport, have heightened this clamour for instant gratification and click bait controversy which is expressed with such adamant certainty, only to change the week after. So the Mcatee scenario is a good version of this. For me, the reality will be somewhere in the middle. Those who know best are SS and his team, I’m happy to let them make the decision in an informed way which will take into account not only the immediacy of the situation, but also the longevity, finance and other options available/unavailable if we do replace him. One thing I am pretty certain of is SS won’t be at either extreme. He’s not saying “Listen, he’s fucking awful, I don’t care if he’s in good form and we are starting to see the best of him, we are getting rid” Similarly he’s not saying “Listen chaps I know we’ve all agreed Macca has to go and we’ve got a good deal lined up, but let’s fuck that off because he had a cracking game Saturday didn’t he?”
  12. And that doesn’t include any of the great work Bolton Wanderers in the Community do. As @Casino said it’s hard for someone who doesn’t live in the town, isn’t closely connected to the club and the community, isn’t aware of the great work and impact this work does for the folk of Bolton and who condescendingly and ignorantly can only refer to fat clubs and teaching kids to play football better, to really appreciate the value of a bond between a football club and the difference it can make to the people of the town.
  13. I’d say it’s much more than just PR. And more than just about filling stadiums up too - although that’s great and well done to all for achieving this on our first game back in the Championship. Another fantastic milestone for FVs. 👏
  14. desperado replied to burnden's topic in Terrace Talk
Me too. I’ve unusually always missed this one. Will be number 84 for me.
  15. There’s a massive list that goes beyond your meagre one. You’d only have to look at Bolton Wanderers in the Community, across their many media and social channels if you wanted to know how much more. Their reach across all sectors of the community is impressive.
  16. Oh.. and if you really think we are just “ordinary” I question whether you really are a fan 😊
  17. It’s football, it’s a religion. Its global presence is unmatched. Does anything connect you to a community like football does? Is there anything that ignites that passion, that emotion, that ground-shaking joy as much as football? If you can lead, be the flag-bearer, be the person who is responsible for creating this, I very much get it. Why any other club? Why not us? Why not the club who has a fine history, a fine stadium, a passionate and loyal support and which at the time needed rescuing? It all seems very well matched to me, the opposite of “Not getting it”
  18. £10 million valuation on him
  19. Tricky one with Mcatee. If it was right to try and sell him before Saturday, then I can see the POV that that shouldn’t change after seeing him have a good game. But I think I’m on the side of that unless you are replacing with much better then he stays. And judging that now does IMO change, especially if he backs that performance up in the next couple of weeks. I did say a few weeks ago, there may be one or two surprises from players we weren’t expecting in terms of fitting into the Championship - and Mcatee may just be one of those players.
  20. The only other alternative I can think of would have been Christie at RB and Brunt LB, keeping the CBs the same. But I realise I’m into the territory of thinking I’m a Championship manager with alternative suggestions like that. 😊
  21. The best post and response on the whole thread 🤣👏 When we purchase ACD for 3/4 million this week can we consider ourselves pushed into category C?
