  1. Whose says I'm from Crawley? Bloody hell, calm down! The Stones are just a jumped up Blues band who got lucky and have one decent member in Charlie Watts, Oasis haven't been any good for nearly 12 years and the Mondays made one half decent album with Pills, Thrills and Bellyaches.
  2. All shite, except the Roses and a few New Order songs. Fuckin' James? Sit down lad. Now, Pavement or Sebadoh?
  3. nah, those takeaway jobs from supermarkets are crap, espcially the chinese ones.
  4. But where would I go for a decent curry?
  5. No, really, you are. They're brilliant with all that 'to me, to you' business.
  6. You're as funny as the Chuckle Brothers.
  7. Which is why I have no time with the right wing views held by any religion. Like any culture Islam has moderates as well as the bigots. I'm afraid that those people just end to shout the loudest and say the soundbites that the press pick up on. A moderate Muslim who has worked and lived in britain and enjoys the freedom that this country brings I'm afraid won't sell papers, mores the pity. As for the orgin of bloody xmas trees, the point I was crudely trying to make was that Christmas, as celebrated in most westernised counties, is an assimilation of many traditions so to say that one muslim woman in TV is political correctness gone mad is a little off the mark and a wee bit reactionary. Sorry Big Girl, it would be churlish not to put a link to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_tree Seems we are both right, yes it was started in the Germantic and dutch nations......by Pagans, or at least a pre Christian society. We both win, ner ner ner ner ner
  8. Then I guess I'm guilty of treason, bring on the hang man. Personally I'm vermently anti monarchist - sign me up for the New Model Army! I'm also anti Religion so I have no sympathy with the right wing of any relgion or any doctorine that subjugates class, creed or sex to prejudice or intollerance. There sould be a space for all members of a society to enrich and speak about their culture. Muslims currently make up only 3% of the British Isles so lets put this alternative Christmas meesage into context. Celebrate this country's diversity, a bit more understanding from both parties and a little less high handed condemnation would help. I used to work in Barking and seeing the insidious nature of the BNP preying on the insecurities of the majority white popluation was sickening. Breeding a culture of hate is not the way to deal with the issues of living in a secular, multi enthic country. So watch the Queen if you are so inclinded or watch Channel 4 - the thing is in Britain you have a choice which can only be a good thing.
  9. I somehow doubt her message will be along the lines of 'fcuk off you Christian infidels' Christmas is a pagan festival of the winter solstes, they are the reason we put Christmas trees up. St Nicholas is a scandanvian tradition and many Theology Scholas generally believe that 'Christ' was born at the end of summer, September being the closest historical month. I think Channel 4 are doing this at a time to generate a greater viewership, but I for one celebrate it and welcome and alternative Christmas message, the Queen doesn't speak for me and I'm sure that a 20 odd year old Muslim woman has more in common with me and my experiences in 21st century Britain than some 80 odd year old woman who lives in castle!
  10. I think its a good idea and includes our full mulitcultral society.
  11. Foreign language to me. How much was a pint of mild?
  12. That'll be the wife, I'll be on the Coopers or Party 7. Anyone for a Greenhall Whitley?
  13. Someone turn his eartrumpet up and tell him we've gone decimal.
  14. No problem, just hope it works out for both of us!! Let us know how you get on.
  15. Bloody snob, its a crying shame that in these Jamie Oliver inflicted times that we can't use Salad Cream with pride. You shop at Waitrose don't you? I'd also like to start a campaign to get Scampi back in under the 'Something Different' menu in all Beefeaters/Wacky Warehouses/Harvsters/Wetherspoons rather than their lame idea of curry/chilli con carni or spicy pasta. And where the bloody hell are the prawn cocktail starters nowadays? Its criminal, I can eat fish goujons until their coming out of my arse but can I get a good prawn cocktail served on a bed of iceburg lettuce for love nor money? No, I cannot. Don't get me started on Nickerbocker Glories.....
  16. Must admit I get taken the piss out of reguarly for the Pastie Barm thing down here. Mind you my Boss, an Islingtonbased Arsenal Fan, can't believe I use Salad Cream to spruce up my lettuces. She thought they had stopped selling it in 1978! For all Southern based Boltonians I recommend getting yourslef some frozen Carrs and getting the barms from Asda - its the closest you'll get!
  17. Just a late addition to this thread. I was so peed off with paying bank charges and also having no time to sort out getting them back. Sooo, I've just signed up with Robertson Holbrook, basically you fill out two forms which give them the ability to request information from your bank and they sort out the rest with charges going back 6 years. The way that they make their money is from the interest from the charges. If you to do with without a legal team you can get back the interest yourself but I'd rather let the professionals get onto it and get my money back. The thing is bank charges are such a hot topic at the moment that the banks are trying to tie up the legaity of them, the only reason why you can get them back at the moment is because of a loop hole in contract law. This company take between 3 -4 months to get your money back and will offer advice if you have to go to small claims court. Here's the link http://www.robertsonholbrook.co.uk/home.php?page_id=1
  18. That's a bit harsh. Dated Jimmy Criackets daughter for a while, very nice lady she was too! He's going for a few more years yet!
  19. I'll bite yer bloody ankles off, sarcy bastard.
  20. Totally, however, it is a fact that you are more likely to smoke and therefore die of a smoking related illness if you work a low paid job. Of course news of getting a terminal illness will make most people knock the fags on the head but what I can't stand is someone in Whitehall preaching to people who work long hours for little pay. Also, heavy drinking really does effect more than just the person who is killing themselves.
  21. Nowadays, they believe a cure for the disease is to rape a young white baby- Yeah, everyone single one of them. Ignorant pillock.
  22. I gave up smoking a month ago and so I should really be in favour of the ban, but there is something that doesn't sit easy with me and its the government turning us into a puritanical state with us realising it. I'm lucky enough to have a job that I like, have a nice home etc but some people aren't so lucky - are you telling me they can't have a fag in their local at the end of a days work? Thou shalt not? Thou bloody will, pal! Its no fluke that those areas with the highest death rates through smoking related illnesses are also the poorest. If I was working a shitty job with shitty pay, I'd want a fag. Where does it end, the banning of pubs beccause of liver disease?
  23. 1 -0, am at work with a Reading fan. This is painful.
  24. My wife bought one, ex gym cost about ??700. Its the most expensive coat hanger in the world. Don't bother, they're really heavy, take up tons of room and get used once a year - I think there's a punchline from a 70s sitcom hanging off that sentence.
