C'mon Bolton Laaa
Got beat 4-3. A bit like the footie team. Cannot hold a lead. Then again, at least he had one.

Rooney charged
Just been reading on the Sky News site, Gary Neville is getting involved now. Saying that the term "violent conduct" is a nonsense. He is also bleating on about Utd's England players being anal buggered, erm, sorry misread that, alienated.

http://www.skysports.com/skysports/article...1165277,00.html Paul Williams in the last 16. Never gets much farther, but you never know this year. Up against Wayne "Hawaii 501" Mardle. Will be tough for the Bolton lad. I am guessing this match will be played tomorrow or Friday.

what...
I ain't no tactical genius. But here goes. Our long ball, hump it into their box, in your face tactics do work! Against fancy Dan teams - like Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle. Unfortunately, when we try the same tactics against the lesser teams - they have a similar game plan / mentality as us and can cope with it easy. Wait for the next home game against Arsenal - it will probably pay dividends again. One question though, if Davies is so good in the air and able to win a huge percentage of long balls aimed at him.... then why do we not employ someone to collect the ball from him? Got to get Jay Jay in behind him, picking up the pieces and producing some magic high up the field.

On the Pitch Off the Pitch
Maybe the club shop know something then. Might have saved your little grandson the embarrassment of having the next MU goalies name on his new goalie top. See your main point though. How can they have not stock checked their letters and CDs before yesterday - when they must have known that many fans would descend on the club shop with money and vouchers they had received as Xmas presents.

Fact is though, Chelsea are aiming for silverware on 4 fronts. And few may bet against them collecting 3 of those trophies. Cech could get injured or sent off at any minute. No way Marino would do what Allardyce does, and have a "make-do" keeper in reserve. He only replaces quality with quality. All over the field. Not one of his replacement players is any worse than the players they replace. Same goes for Cudicini. He is the ultimate keeper to have in reserve. I don't think Tim Howard is as bad as Fergie makes out (by not selecting him). I would snap his hands off if a potential swap plus cash deal was on offer. I would probably be happy for us to take Howard and one of the up & coming Utd kids - Richardson perhaps?

He doesn't hang around when he starts twatting the ball around the ground.

We've always got El Hadji Diouf waiting in the wings to take the reigns!

Anyone talking about Europe now?
South Africa - January Estonia* - March/April St Petersburg, Russia** - April/May Gran Canaria - July *Stag do - 50/50 **Wedding - 50/50 Trying to get the stag do in St Peterburg a few days before the wedding to save on pennies. Not really for me to make that decision - but mentioned it to the groom all the same.

That Asian disaster
I meant Toon Army warning systems. They can react to a tidal wave heading their way. As for earthquakes - there's feck all you can do if they are in land. Though I imagine at San Andreas - they will have some kind of advance system to detect when a big one may strike. Whether or not they can displace a few hundred million people (the fault line runs all the way down Central America as well) at short notice is doubtful.

Lose to West Brom, should Sam Walk?
Sometimes you cannot arrest a slide just by changing manager. WBA for instance. They have got no better since Robson came in. I think his psychologists at the club now need to earn their money. Sam believes in all the mumbo-jumbo behind the scenes methods, and now they need to start paying their dividends. As posted elsewhere, he needs to shake up the team, drop a few "regulars" and play people in more productive positions. Jay Jay Okocha has all the skill in the world. Get him up the pitch where it matters and give him the ball for fecks sake. I did think and state yesterday that any other manager at any other club would be sacked after this run. But feck, who else gets results at OT, Highbury, Stamford Bridge, etc? He's done it before, he will do it again. Granted we as fans need to rally around the players - but they are not inspiring us at all. Maybe we need a "clear the air" forum at Bolton Arena, with Sam, Gartside and key players being put up on stage and made to answer questions. They may in turn tell us what they want in return from us as fans.

Flintoff just warming up...
Hit a few sixes and fours this morning so far on his way to 49 not out. Good stuff. Now that's entertainment. It's also grit, determination and bouncebackability. Our football team could take a leaf out of the test teams brilliant comeback out in Durban.

I'm confused as to why Sir Alex would want to swap the likes of Howard or Carroll with Jaaskelainen. He has been tinkering for years to replace the Great Dane - fact is - he never will. I would imagine Utd would be better putting in a very large bid for Cudicini.

Anyone been to Rome
I think HenriLloyd when last year with his missus. Might be worth sending him a PM.

Team for WBA
Still not enough grit in that midfield. We are now fighting for Premiership survival. I'd go for... Oakes Barness NGotty Jaidi Gardner Campo Nolan Speed Okocha (in the hole behind the front men) Diouf Davies

Reet Lancashire Hot Pot
Remember when we fielded Sasa Curcic and Scott Sellars in midfiled with Johansen and someone else who's name eludes me. Had all the skill in the world, but on a wet Xmas day fixture against a near neighbour - skill ain't the recipe needed. That midfiled was powder puff and could not battle. I see the same now. Okocha is not a tackler - and should not be expected to be trying to win the ball back, chasing and hounding players. It's not his game. Why do we allow it? Speed is going through a terrible time in midfield - he needs dropping - but have we got anyone to replace him? Makes me now wonder why we got him so easy from Newcastle. Stelios - not good enough. Quite simple. He offers nothing. He doesn't take people on. His crosses are shite. He doesn't get in where it hurts. He looks constantly out of position. Pedersen - same as Speed. Lost his form. Needs a serious kick-up the arse. I feel there is more chance of him coming good again, unlike Stelios. Diouf - I actually feel that this guy is one who is trying. Funny, I'd never have thought it. I would keep him in the team. As for the answers. Not sure. Do we have anyone at the club who can come into the midfield, roll his sleeves up and start kicking some butt? Could someone else do a better job as captain?

ITK - it will be John McGinlay - who has been recalled in a shock move by Big Sam. You heard it here first.

That Asian disaster
You'd be quids in now though! Seriously, we got talking about it last night, on a session around town. The "civilised world" has warning systems and emergency action plans in place for when/if it happens - I am talking in main USA. I'm lead to believe that in the 2 hours it took to hit Sri Lanka - a warning system would have given many of the dead the chance to retreat to higher ground. Likewise in Phuket, retreating to the higher ground would have save many, many people. Obviously places like Sumatra did not stand a chance - likewise the Maldives. All the planning in the world probablyl could not have assisted the Maldives.

shakes head
Double-bluffing the FA. Bring it up first, make a big deal of it, put the onus on them picking on you, your star man and your club in general. It all helps deflect what really happened. Its not everyone picking on MU. Its just fact that they get away with incidents, time and time again. RVN against Arsenal as a recent example. Ferdinand against Arsenal as well. How about Rooney going down too easy for a penalty against Arsenal?
