The rest of us will just have to shout louder.

I'm definitely doing Scunny - new ground for me.

I was there too and didn't hear anything at all. Saw NL arrive, was stood near the dugout in the second half, and clapped him and the players off near the 'tunnel' at the end and there was no hint of even any anti-Leicester animosity, let alone anything sectarian. One bloke did shout that the pubs were shite in Leicester, but by way of encouraging him to stay, rather than in an abusive way. Let's hope this is bullshit, or been massively overblown. That's not to say these people and their bigoted, backward views have gone away of course. These people's grandparents were the ones putting "No blacks, no dogs, no Irish" signs up in their windows a couple of generations ago. I just hope they know they're not welcome here, never have been and never will be. Surely their other love - the one whose colours they more often prefer to wear than BWFC's - needs them more than ever now? So please do us all a favour and fuck off and watch them permanently. Anyway, a lovely afternoon out. Well done the club and Lenny for doing something to help out local grassroots football. And great to see that Atherton is still a Wanderers stronghold after all these years. Long may that continue. NLSWA.

I'm tempted. Went to one of the games at LR in the mid 90s but never been to Colls.

His record before he signed for us was phenomenal - top scorer in Europe 3 years running up until a couple of years before he came to us. Only Sam was pulling deals like that off at the time. And ok that one didn't work, but the likes of N'Gotty, Djorkaeff, Okocha, Campo, Stelios and Hierro are the signings that gave us top 8 finishes (and all the joy that brought) 4 years in a row. Long ball, we only played long ball.

There wasn't that much love for NL on their forums the last time it looked like Pearson had been sacked, and that was before our pretty underwhelming end to the seson. It's not based on much but I'm reasonably confident Lenny isn't the man they'll go for. And I also think that, yes, he's ambitious and he has a connection to Leicester, but he's keen to really test himself here and see how far he can take us. And I'd like to think the fact we took a punt on him when nobody else in this country seemed ready to should count for some degree of loyalty. But then maybe that's just naive - this is football, and for all the badge kissing there is no loyalty. Sad, but true?

I thought he looked very good in a pre-season game last summer - though that was against Rochdale. But in the couple of games last season that I remember - Ipswich at home was one I think - he looked way too lightweight. There might be a player there, but he needs to bulk up if he's ever going to lead the line.

It was a World Cup in 78.

Does Nixon do anything else with his time but speculate endlessly and usually incorrectly about who we're about to sign?
-
Am also disappointed with the London aways. Still, there is a precedent for us clinching the title of this league against Fulham...
-
Think you're wrong Ryan - new ground for everyone - we'd have taken loads.

I hitched from London as a student to see us play Barnsley at home at the end of the 93-94 season. Fuck knows why, there was nothing riding on it. Just as I was about to give it up as a bad job at the start of the M1 (at midday) somebody pulled up and proceeded to drive at 110mph - which, with an eye on the clock, I was very happy with...until the fucker ran out of petrol! Much fucking about later - after another lift and a train from Piccadilly - I remember running down the Manny Road and getting in through the main entrance of Burnden during half time. Managed to get a message put out over the tannoy for any London Whites in attendance to give me a lift home (as this was very much pre-mobile phone days) - which worked...though we lost 3-2! Happy days.

Don't think any club not used to European adventures has embraced their trips like we did. Our followings were consistently astonishing. Our day will come again. NLSWA.

This booing thing is being overstated - there were a few dicks, as there always are (at every club), let's not make it out to be more than that. There are too many folk on here ready to have a pop at our support. Given most of the shite we've had to put up with since Sam left (apart from a relatively brief Coyle honeymoon period and a few green shoots under Lenny), I think our fans have been remarkably patient. Speaking of Sam, ask him what he makes of us compared with Hammers and Toon fans - both of whom were constantly calling for his head - the former after he'd got them promoted at first time of asking and into the top 10...all because they apparently weren't playing the 'West Ham way'. Wankers.

It will take something very special to beat that feeling of when that equaliser went in. A last minute winner in the Cup Final perhaps...
-
66/1 - longer odds than Allardyce...so don't think so.
-
Let's hope they're as wrong as when they made us favourites and second and third favourites in our first couple of seasons down here.
-
We're 40/1 with William Hill to win it next season - joint third worst! Preston 25/1. Christ. Have the bookies taken a good look at our finances? Or lack thereof.
-
He only had half a season and they were mid-table. Had they kept him there's no way they'd have gone down the season after.
-
You think wrong snowball.
-
Not a patch on Burnley's...and seem much less anti us than Wigan or Blackpool or Bury.
-
Well done Preston and lovely end to SKD's career - if that turns out to be his last match. Don't get any anti-Preston feelings on here - proper club with real tradition (like us) and their fans have never given us any bother that I can remember - even when we relegated em in 93 and did em at Cardiff in 01. Look forward to another decent derby. 6 founder members up against each other next season now.
-
New ground for me, so hopefully get to Scunthorpe - don't get many chances to add to the list. Fwiw, I can only ever remember pre-season matches being against shite opposition - even when we were a good deal shiter than we are now. Apart from that Liverpool game in the 90s, but it was a novelty back then. We did have the Lancs Manx Cup tho I suppose...

I wonder if the 80s would have turned out differently if he'd not fallen out with Greaves and we'd not let him go to Birmingham in that second season in Div 1? And if Reid hadn't been injured?
