8th... 6th.... and currently 7th and a UEFA run well beyond expectations.

chelsea play "ugly" or Bolton-esque football most of the time... and they have a higher caliber of player man-for-man. the reason they do it is simple ---- the majority of teams can't defend against it... which is why they are winning the league again... because it works. Which is why Sam uses it, because most of the time, ie Aug-Feb, it works. Look at Arsenal. Beautiful passing, the best in England. They'll do well with it in Europe, but look where they are in the Prem. Not far above us and with alot more money's-worth in the team.

I defend people who I think deserve defending. The former chairman almost bankrupted the club, Gartside saved it. In my book that means he deserves support, not lambasting. I just don't think I've got a lot to moan about at the mo. My first game was Brentford at home, Nicky Spooner scored an OG. Mansfield on a Tuesday night with about 1500 on at Burnden is another big memory. My team is 7th in the Prem and people are pissed off we aren't in the top 5... I can sleep quite comfortably at night, and I'm sure 85 other teams in England would swap with us.

Wouldn't mind Jonathon Fortune from Charlton, he's on a freebie this summer apparently.

I don't want to be the next Leeds/Leicester/Nottm Forrest by spending money we haven't got. Gartside deserves just as much credit as Sam for getting us where we are and he is doing his best to make sure the club never gets as close to being extinct as it was a few years back. wouldn't mind an abrahmovic-style owner though

Does it really mean we've failed if we dont make the top 4??? Really??? for now yes, I think bolton fans should realise we've come a hell of a long way very very quickly. bolton have never had a boring mid-table season for as long as I've been watching them (bout 14 years, Im 21). the only way we'll go further than we are is by building a financial platform. To do this we need to consistantly finished in the top 12 or so. That represents success for me. If in 6 or 7 years and after spending money (a la Newcastle) we're still not challenging for the top 6 THEN i'd say something was wrong. you're more than entitled to feel aggreaved at not getting your money's worth, but bolton's tickets are still some of the cheapest in the Prem, and it is a business -- if you dont' like the product.... dont' buy it.

Bottom line - 17th is success for us, the notion of us being a regular top 10 club is beyond success - it's overachieving. All today showed was that we dont have the money for a top class striker. If we did we'd be in the top 4.

6 weeks ago Joey O'Brien was the best thing since bread became sliced. the lad gets tired towards the end of his first season and now he's shite. Nicky Hunt was quality in his first year and had an average second (much like Nolan did) but unfortunately picked up a bad injury this year... and he's shit as well apparently. I'm so glad bolton never win trophies - cus then some of you miserable c*nts would have nothing to moan about. Roll on the end of the world eh

Since when have we had a devine right to be in Europe?? We overachieved last year and the fact that we're in with a shout of a repeat having spent nothing is a big fcuking achievement in itself. And people are pissed off we're only 7th with games in hand???? It's now (and not in Jan) that we're suffering the African Nations jet-lag, and we're having a bad run. But look at where we've come from, I'll take Prem mid-table over 2nd Div any day of any week.

We wouldn't be in relegation form. There was a table of the last 10 games on Sky this mornin, we were in the top half. I fcuking hate Bolton "fans" sometimes
