In the late 1970's I was involved in a game that ended 9-9 after being down 9-0 in the Salford Sunday league whilst playing for the Jolly Carter, Little Lever. We used to play on the downhill pitch off Ainsworth Hall Road and there was a gale blowing in the down direction. Neither side could get out of their own half when kicking uphill.

I gave sky up in 2010 but had a months now tv pass as a present for xmas which I am using. As Ive had BT for phone and internet ive been watching the champions league pretty closely. Can safely say that once it reaches the last 16 its the best quality football on offer. Even in the group stages there are games like Celtic v Citeh and Citeh v Barca which are top notch. Trouble is it seems sacrosanct to say that Premier league games are usually crap. Citeh v Stoke game being a case in point whereby a mid table stoke side parks the bus and treats a 0 - 0 like a victory.

The other thing from tonights game is that all this hype about PSG is just that. Listening to pundits on the radio this last two weeks I got the impression they were the best team in the world and going to easily win the champs league.

Agree about this. The majority of match day attendees at OT and Anfield come from far and wide. Citeh are still very much a local club. Northern folk have to pick and choose the games they attend if their sides are in 3 comps.

UEFA have always decided how the champion league places are allocated. They would never allow a place to go to a domestic cup competition, it took them years to allocate one to the winners of the Europa league.

Not a fan of the mid winter break either. However, replays are fucking shiite! If a lower league club has to rely on one against a Premier league club every 7 or 8 years (as that is probably the number of times it happens) then its deserves to go out of business. FFS the FA cup and League cup games are currently being played in front of meagre crowds as is. Domestic cup football is almost dead already and it needs a massive shake up. The league cup final could be played sometime in December with the first second and third rounds played before the end of August.

They should fuck replays off all together, regardless of the World Cup.
