See, to me it only goes too far when things change to the detriment of "normal folk" (for want of a better phrase) in order to accommodate minorities or people of a different sexual orientation. I see this partnership that United have as more of a "kick racism out of football" kind of thing.

 

I genuinely think that everyone, regardless of gender, race, sexual preference, etc. should be treated equally. Not everyone IS equal, but they deserve the same treatment and respect, and I think that people pushing for MORE than that is where the problems come in. A lot of people from these minority groups believe that because of historical bigotry towards their particular group, they are overdue some benefits and push for better treatment than "normal folk" - this causes tension - see Black Lives Matter over here, or feminists vs feminazis, for examples.

Fair points, I'd say it's a bit more subtle than that on a few points (and it's probably ok to use the words white and straight rather than normal) but it's my stop and I'm having egg and chips for tea so I've got to dash!

My experience of folk leads me to believe some just want an axe to grind as they are angry people.  It's more socially acceptable to hide behind a 'cause' such as the ones you outline though.  

 

A lot of pretty decent folk support them as they think it's still the 'right on' thing to do without looking a bit deeper.

 

I find it sad and amusing in equal measure when racial bigotry is countered by more racial bigotry or sexist bigotry etc as examples.

 

Fair play to BWFC though!  Even my Mrs asked me about it . . . the twitter fiend!

As an aside, were page 3 paps stopped (by Sun etc) as they were deemed sexist?

I know, I was being a little bit silly.

 

Still,  I'd argue the reason men objectify women is because we are pretty much biologically programmed to do so.  Women aren't - not in the same ways.  I'm not sure what some people think sexual equality should look like.  (men have made porn in some form or other for as long as we've been around - my point above was that women could do so if they wanted, but it's telling they choose not to)

 

Actually I'd say men (in the west) are more and more having to conform to certain perceived behavioural traits, views etc.  

 

I get the argument for objectification and media portrayals etc but i'm not sure part of the answer is essentially denying heterosexual desires, however distasteful they may seem to some.   You could say the same about gays . . . oh wait, no you can't
