I was once in a similar situation where a young rep was blowing off a married head of department in return for best salesman which included a cash bonus of 1k. I later was told by the director not to say anything or he would lose his job and his marriage and the sales rep would lose her job. I choose to say nothing as I wasn't bothered about the award as I was not eligable for it as I was in finance dept. Come the end of the year the said sales person against all odds had won the award despite being against salesman with 15 years more experience then her.
