OK. Long story short.

Senior sales manager has just resigned and left with immediate effect

Summer sales conference a couple of weeks ago. Well known that he was leading the charge in some serious late night boozing in his room and there's been some substantiated rumours that he took advantage of a female member of the salesforce (she told people about it). Some other shenanigans where one of the sales reps faced a pretty serious charge (theft) but threw the senior sales manager under the bus to get himself off the charge ie he said "he told me to do it"

Now......I heard rumours that chan was involved but dismissed it but am now faced with feedback from a number of people that it's true and helped contribute to what went on. 99% certain that I know who it is who had it and I don't like him and imho has helped contribute to my boss leaving the company

Do I.......

a - let sleeping dogs lie as enough damage has been done and say nowt

b - have a word with his manager (who I get on OK with) and give him the nod and let him make the decision

c - go to HR as out of work it's none of my business but in work it's caused a massive shitstorm and he's a cunt for bringing that shit to work

I'm leaning towards b at the moment. Thoughts?

D - dress up as a rich arab wearing a go pro, pretend to have an attractive sales proposition for him, get the mon a pint of wine and watch it all unfold.

If I was in charge, I'd want chapter and verse.

Whoever steps forward with the info gets a pat on the back and probably a promotion for giving a shit about the company.

You need to speak to senior management. They'll thank you for it.

Is there any proof that anyone did anything wrong other than rumours??

Appears that it became an issue because booze was stolen from behind the bar and reported by the hotel (CCTV?) which led to Global HR flying across from the US and a full investigation which pinpointed an individual who the spilled the beans on the whole tale

Did he force the chan up this guys nose?

Nope but it wasn't his nose and the word 'consensual' has been bandied around after accusations were made against him which makes it all very murky after she admitted what happened and was then interviewed twice by Global HR ie first time was "tell us what happened" and second time was "right, we've heard accounts from 10 other people and we've heard that your involvement is................" Not saying she's played the rape card but there seems to be a lot avoidance of blame and the chan guy seems to have been right in the middle of it and is walking away after a senior manager "resigns" and one of the sales reps has a lot of "doubt" against her now.......

Bypass his manager who's the same level as me and go to senior management?

Send us an invite to your next do, sounds loads better that a few pints at Tiger Tiger!

On a lighter note I've nearly missed two flights back from these do's. They get pretty wild but this is the first time that it;s gone beyond the norm. A WWays table would be interesting to say the least............

Yep.

If I was senior management I'd want staff to act like they give a shit.

It's not grassing.

They may even, further down the line, ask why you didn't step up when you had the chance.

Aye whatever you do, cover your own back and be professional.

I'd speak to HR before you do anything. They should tell you the right way to go.

Not worried about the grassing as such

Question is do I pass the onus on to his manager to do the right thing (good mate) or do it myself. Suppose I'm asking do I trust someone else to do it or do I just steam ahead and maybe lose him as a mate? Fucking hard one but think I'm getting your drift and you know what you're probably right

I've read the story a few times but can we clarify what the birds involvement is and why she's in trouble?

She's not. At the end of the day she's ended up in his room at a "party", stayed the night, shagged him, told people the next day, and then when the investigation has started, has gone down the pecking order in terms of "crimes" because the focus has been of the fact that booze has been stolen. Don't actually know yet what's happened to her in disciplinary terms but the only person to leave the company is the senior manager. The drugs issue remains unreported because it didn't come up up in the investigation

No one forced anyone to take drugs so whether they contributed or not is irrelevant I would say. Also by the sounds numerous folk may well have been on the bingo so if that's the case if you raise it how many folk get dragged into this? Potentially loads

I would steer clear of it all

And that's my dilemma. I'm swinging your way but spider puts up a good case to just go for it

Everything apart from the drugs has been sorted. Senior manager has been potted resigned, the girl who was shagged and told everyone remains in a job, the bloke who stole the booze is still in a job after saying he was told to do it, and everything in company terms is done, dusted, and swept under the carpet

My issue is the little plastic bags of powder. I have no absolute proof. But his manager does know that it happened

I've got a conference call with HR on Monday (unrelated) and it's a question of whether i raise it and bypass my mate (his manager)

So if your mate knows and isn't taking further you could have a quiet word to ascertain why he isn't ? Least then it clears your conscience as you've raised it plus it may then put the onus on him to take it further as he knows you know then.

If all this then comes out your clear as you raised it. If it doesn't then do be it you've done your bit.

I've worked in huge financial institutions for years and never been to a do where some folk weren't on the stuff Par for the course now in most professions I would say that some folk will be at it
