Probably right.

Should have learned his lesson then, unless he gave up.

If he finishes up on the streets, or on a long loan with "our kid" sympathy won't be high.

Not sure they're in his league.

He was a cock during his playing days too.

Their careers were in tatters

No mainstream tv media would have been interested

OK there was no court case but they found someone

Given Barton (two Newcastle players names in one sentence) has so many followers on X somebody may take a gamble

Maintainstream media have never touched them since and they've been ostracised on Saudi Arabian TV.

Very lucrative like and probably had a really good life in Dubai but their careers never recovered here.

Just been reading about Keys etc.

Including his interview 10 years on.

Very different situation to Barton's but they also went, as you say.

You have confused yourself.  Do you want people arrested for saying similar to what JB said?

I’ve quite a clear idea of my views actually 😄 Anyone with basic reading skills can read back on this thread & see what they are.

It’s more your views & deflections that I’m interested in - are you saying it was a waste of time for this to go to court? Or are you suggesting what Barton did wasn’t that bad & he shouldn’t be punished because others do it ?

We’re lucky to live in a country where if you’re subjected to abuse & harassment, then you can report it to the police & seek justice. I’m not sure what the issue is.

that's because they were Keys and Grey, the face of SKY Football for years

(SKY wanted them out for years but they were untouchable)

the arab tv channels want familiar faces - that's why keys and grey got the gig, lineker does / did a stint there too (before he decided he was against the qatari regime),

barton was a nobody in terms of tv punditry before all this, even less so now

It was you that said his arrest was justified (though he wasn’t arrested) so applying a simple bit of logic you would want others saying the same/similar arrested. Yes or no?

I think that anyone subjected to abuse and harassment should be able to contact the police and seek justice.

Do you not ?

It wasn’t what I asked

Barton was a bang average player with a taste for violence.

He then became a  shit lower league manager with a taste for violence.

Then tried to become a social media personality, still with a taste for violence (ask his missus) but also with a penchant for acting the cunt in his new chosen medium.

In the old days he’d a ran a boozer in some dreary shite town

Hopefully he’ll now fuck off into obscurity

Agree with most of that but bang average players don’t play for massive clubs for over a decade.

Do you not agree with the guilty charge? Or is something else about the case bothering you?

The victims pressed charges. He’s been served his justice & will have to rein it in from now on or face a sentence.

Police aren’t going to suddenly start looking through countless other random posts if nobody has pressed charges or reported them.

If he hadn't been a footballer, he'd have spent most of his life in prison.

No they didn’t. Cheshire police did.

Aye, and he still ain’t fit to lace Nolan’s boots

Point is he’s only as famous as he is because he’s a cunt, not because of anything he did as a footballer.

No one is saying Nolan was average.

Point is average footballers don’t play for over a decade in the best league in the world.

Ok average bit harsh. Still, his fame ain’t due to his footballing ability, the massive chunt

It's all pedantic really. They've taken libel cases against him.

Sentencing, the Honorary Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Andrew Menary KC, told Barton. "Robust debate, satire, mockery and even crude language may fall within permissible free speech. But when posts deliberately target individuals with vilifying comparisons to serial killers or false insinuations of paedophilia, designed to humiliate and distress, they forfeit their protection. As the jury concluded, your offences exemplify behaviour that is beyond this limit - amounting to a sustained campaign of online abuse that was not mere commentary but targeted, extreme and deliberately harmful."

Do you disagree with anything the judge has said or the outcome?

Not sure what the issue is.

I see he's got to do 200 hours of unpaid work as well.

Got to get the muppet cleaning the bike lanes.

There’s lots worse than this on Twitter but you said the police shouldn’t take action. Is it just because it’s Joey Barton? As the MP said, policing streets not tweets should be the priority.
