Fanzone for away fans?

How have they been 'booted out'? If another business puts in a higher bid, they tend to get the job.

There's no bidding involved. The pitches are a set figure for rental.
Those who have been there since the FZ opened haven't had their licences renewed and they've been invited to apply and the club will pick the 'best' applicant.

Process seems reasonable if people knew the criteria they were looking for, but it seems a little harsh on the face if it not to just renew the licence for a successful outlet.

Keep it closed for Wigan obvs.

  • The problem with an Away fans area is that it has to be big enough to covers its costs which for most followings would be a struggle. For the bigger away followings imagine there would be policin

  • Just let em in our fanzone. Not like it's the king bill is it.

It's going to be major brands in there so expect a Nandos, KFC and McDonalds along with a Wetherspoons.

It doesn't matter who they install really. I'll continue to use it as much as usual.

It's difficult for the club to win in this situation. They can't control the narrative when the companies leaving post things on social media (as they are entitled to do). In this situation, the lack of context in the post can, of course, lead to people assuming things.

They have a proportion of the fan base who want better players / coaches / infrastructure (which only comes with greater revenues), and a proportion who want the focus to be on being a community club.

... and a small proportion who use any info at all to bash them!

I'm not privy to the reasons other than knowing that there is a tender process. Business is business in my eyes. If we want a successful club, some will fall by the wayside. In this case, who's to say that losing this pitch doesn't ignite this small business to expand / diversify / look at other markets. It could be good for them!

I think it did, but having looked at the 'tender' document, it's more a case of this is the price, tell us why we should give you the pitch instead of someone else.

Perfectly normal process.

The club must have a pretty decent alternative lined up if they've simply determined they aren't worthy of a shed

By quite a distance, Sushma'snacks was the most popular food option in the FZ

The club will be interested only in how much money the club makes from Sushma, not how much Sushma makes

As it should, imo, but that calculation needs to include folk who go cos of their food and spend on ale

But if it's right that there's no bidding process and instead simply a flat fee, then whoever they have in mind must be expected to do very well

Shame

Nice food and good value

The only one I've bought from other than the bar and the coffee van next to the exit
