3-3 Newcastle cup tie? I think.  (Started watching us in Feb ‘76 so just before my time 😀)

Sorry

But appreciate the genuine attempt!

I know I’m rambling to myself but had to check my ailing memory - first game I saw was Bolton v Plymouth on 13/3/76.  Didn’t realise the Newcastle cup game was only the month before!  Anyhow, no idea on 1975.

Well done

It was our first sunday but not the first of the day

Anyone off here there on the day? Before my time but I've heard due to Sunday trading rules, you gained access via a programme or similar that was the same price as a ticket?

Ah sorry. Just seen that link ^

Great read.

Oh and apparently there had to be a free turnstile

Cant confirm but @Steejayprob knows

Definitely a free turnstile which we found - At burnden side of lever end and said "Tickets Only" which was a bit of a give away as no tickets were issued - you purchased a programme instead

I was there and remember some religious types protesting outside the Embankment, think it was a 2:00 KO but might be wrong, was it something to do with power cuts???

The Newcastle Cup game was later, as i was at big school by then and didn't start till 75 so im guessing it was feb 76 and I'm not looking but i can remember a cartoon type drawing in the BEN of Ian Greaves dressed as a Chicago type gangster with the headline, St Valentine day massacre, so i assume it was feb 14 1976???
