Sure the gate must have been 150,000 with the amount of folk round here that were there that night.

Aye.  There were 10k more on for the boxing day fixture 3 years later.

The crowd for last week's game against Wigan surpassed every home fixture from 73/74 to 77/78 with just 5 exceptions.

My dad was driving me, my brother and my mum. We got diverted into a pub car park where our parents had to account for us. The rozzers stripped the car from front to back, gave us a good search looking for what?  We didn't know what had happened. We'd heard stuff from other drivers being stopped but nothing definite.

Very scary day.

Played Football with and mainly against some of those lads....Morris greens finest

Loads of us did. We probably had some more old school coppers - quick glance at the four occupants and a look in the boot and off we went. The traffic jam to get on to that car park was a pain in the arse though.

They weren't searching for your usual early to mid 70's whitey hooligans so it was a quick process once you got to the front of the queue.

Did Danny Dyer provide this internal monologue? Or just for this tweacle?

Eh? I didn't see either article being like that. The interview with his dad I thought was particularly sad.

Looking back, what I do find odd now is for subsequent Blackpool Bolton games, everyone just carried on as normal.  We weren't at that game but the two following seasons my dad took us kids to both.  There were no restrictions on away fans as I recall, other than the Kop was now segregated but home and away fans continued to mingle on the other sides.  Presumably there was talk of reprisals that never amounted to anything for games in the following years?
