  • Depends what you're judging your improvement on? Last season was a shit show. SS had to change the whole system, mantra and introduce a full new attacking line up as well as midfield and goalkeep

If you lose against the marooned bottom of the table side while chasing promotion the mood afterwards is going to be sour - players, fans, everyone associated. On top of that we know that the number 1

  • We drew 0-0, let's blame Sheehan. We drew 0-0, let's blame Toal We drew 0-0, let's blame xyz Defence kept a clean sheet, the bare minimum we expect/hope for. 23 shots, only 3 on target

We are playing poorly and a lot can be questioned, but I didn't think they weren't trying.  I'll leave Tutu out of this discussion because he can look like he's not arsed even when he is, and Apter in the same bracket, but there was battling from the defenders, the midfielders especially Dempsey, Kenny, definitely Dalby who took a physical battering and the subs.  The something that isn't right is their ability (eg can't cross, can't shoot, no pace, lacking strength), its nothing to do with attitude any more than for any team.  If only it was that simple.

Thank God someone can come on and talk sense after a defeat.

I was doing pretty well at leaving defeats till the day after as I know the emotional shitty bollocks that gets spouted (myself included) - and unfortunately I’ve bitten today.

My God I really hope some of you are made to feel very stupid on the 24th May when we go up.

Ill resurrect this thread if we do

Dalby is too nice and honest. He needs to dish it out and fall over more when fouled.

Rob Apter makes Joel Randall look like Roy Keane.

Randall played well sometimes, he made good runs, intelligent passes and had some good moments - scored a couple, assisted a couple, clearly had something, just not enough.

Well ahead of Apter, who's offered nothing.  At all.

I’d just deleted that, as I couldn’t be arsed.

listen, I’m pissed off tonight.

I should have just left the arguing.

But I can’t stand it when people pretend to be know-it-alls.

I’ll give the benefit of the doubt and pass your posts off as being just another passionate Wanderer.

Goodnight. X 😘

I'll resurrect every post you've made on us if we don't go up.

I appreciate your 'other perspective' point of view and it's admirable. But we are fucking shit at the moment and the unbeaten run has glossed over it.

Ok, go ahead and gloat that I was being reasonably positive and saying we have a good chance of going up, on the 24th May, when we lose to Stockport.

If me resurrecting this post when we win is weird….

…then you bringing mine up after we lose would be even more absurd

Got what we deserved , don’t want to hear SS blaming the pitch lots of changes again he really doesn’t know his best 11!

I don't think he intends to play the same XI every week

He certainly rarely does in terms of the midfield whilst GJ is no stranger to left back whilst Forino is in and out on a regular basis

Looks like he'd drilled it into the players all week that the pitch was unplayable and they turned up not knowing how to play

Well I wouldn't, and presume you would've realised I was joking.

I can't help finding your posts to everyone moaning a bit odd though. It's what football fans do 😃

I didn't say weird😀

Last sentence I have just put in

This bloke is the worst manager in our recent history.

He's taken over a team ready to take the next step and be promoted and turned us in to a whimsical, pathetic, shambles of a club.

Can anybody honestly tell us what has improved since he's joined?

Don't give me a load of bollocks about how we've been unbeaten for X amount of games because we've all watched and seen how shit we are.

We tossed off last season when he came in, which has gone completely under the radar.

The only way this will be proven wrong is if we get promoted, which I highly doubt we will.

It sounds mental to say but.... would we have a better chance of going up if we made a managerial change now?

P.S - I know this isn't a realistic option but surely even the most loyal SS would make this change now?

In the same way as the last thing I would do if we’ve just got promoted to the championship would be to resurrect the port vale away thread - joking in the same way.

You’re right, I should know better, than get involved with folk who are moaning about a defeat.

I’ll try and bite my tongue next time and post something the day after that’s more considered and not as emotional and reactive as those going off a cliff a few hours after a defeat.

I have brought this up time and time this season.....We concede as many goals from our corners as we score.....Write today off

SS gets a pass for me because of that pitch.....I am not overly concerned about today, we are just not very good at the moment

So if 5 or 6 teams have a poor pitch, we can virtually forget about promotion, this season or any other.

Its not good enough if we only have a team fit to play on a good pitch.

Bradford's always looks terrible too, that will be another free pass.   We can still improve tactics and execution of free kicks, corners, headers, tackles, defensive cover when we have a corner.

Cardiff will have 25k fans, and Plymouth is a long way to travel on Good Friday.

And teams raise their game at our place.

And we're tired, we've played a lot of games.

Injuries, referees etc etc.

No game is a free pass aside from eg 2 sendings off or ref giving them 2 pens.

Sack the board, admin staff, and Lofty

It's only like a group of mates talking in the pub after a game 😀

What's your point?

We were dogshit BUT that referee was a blatant cheat. How many atrocious challenges did they put in without a yellow and the foul on Dalby was the clearest penalty you could get.

That folk become emotional, reactive and go off a cliff a few hours after a defeat… which is very much the case when you are saying we are a “shambles of a club”

1st half , we tried to play football on a ploughed field with wide players Apter & Kenny creating nothing......it didn't work.

2nd half we more or less gave up with the wingers & switched to a half baked kind of hoof ball.........it didn;t work. i thought PV were more likely to score than us.

FWIW, i didn't see any lack of effort, it was just a bit shambolic.

Plusses......both Forino & Dalby won most of their battles with Dalby getting little support from the ref !!

Agreed on Forino and Dalby, they won most of their battles and Dalby is a trooper, takes loads of physical stick and just gets on with it, showing decent skill in the air and leading the line.

But we were commenting after 10 minutes that it was all long ball, there was no difference 1st half v 2nd half.  A clear tactic from minute one to miss out midfield, launch it to Dalby and play off the 2nd ball.  Unfortunately when its not working, it looks really terrible as much as I admired Dalby's efforts.

And yes, PV with different tactics (pace, strength, running) looked far more likely to score.  Struggling to think of the last L1 game when we literally never looked like scoring, although Stevenage away came close.  That was another game we had to write off due to the conditions/pitch.

Yeh the Ref was shit like they usually are, but so were we.

It seems that for the last 5 or 6 years, despite a change of manager & a total rebuild of the  squad, if we play against a team with fight & commitment, we lose.

Performances are a terrible measure of a side ultimately.

We tossed off last season when he came in, which has gone completely under the radar.

We were competitive until April last year

The only way this will be proven wrong is if we get promoted, which I highly doubt we will.

Then let's give it till May.

It sounds mental to say but.... would we have a better chance of going up if we made a managerial change now?

So who do you get in and how do you want the club to pay for it

P.S - I know this isn't a realistic option but surely even the most loyal SS would make this change now?

Nope.

This isn't reactive - check my previous posts if you need to. I'm very much of the opinion that we haven't improved under SS.

We're the best supported club in the league, one of the highest budgets and some of our fanbase seem to be content with the fact we are crawling our way to the play-offs.

Love your optimism desperado but i'm worried we're settling for the bare minimum

Elaborate then!?

What has improved?

Did he not take over a club ready to be promoted, IE took us as far as he could and we needed someone else to take us to the next level?

Performances are a pretty good indicator I would say!? I do actually care how we play - not just about the result.

So we tossed off last season then, glad you agree with that one atleast.

No idea who we would get in - it's hypothetical.
