Nope.

So why are they struggling to get on the ladder then? A pointless degree that has left them 1000s in debt isn’t likely to leave them in a good position to save for a deposit,

What is a 'pointless degree' to you?

Utter rubbish from the old school yet again.

Really ?

Just because facts do not suit your agenda does not make it rubbish.

Why do nearly 50% of people need degrees ?

Because we're simply saying those who have money can go - if you think your position its correct - its wrong.

Fuck me. Thursday really is the new Friday on here.

Gender studies

would love kids today to have the same opportunity, so if you get good enough A levels to get a place in the top ten percent or so there are less barriers to stop people going into Higher Education and these places funded to some extent.

So saying the top % of people based on A levels should be able to be funded is wrong ? 18 year old from a working class background having Uni funded is wrong ? Means tested so if you have money there is no or a lesser contribution.

It's not a degree in and of its self

Gender studies within Literature or Drama or music is where the study might come from.

I understand you're not a person who had been through these tropes.

You've had your time mate. Let it go. Let the kids do whatever the fuck they choose to do with their lives.

on that i agree, kids at that age will make mistakes....I made plenty, but good advice should always be offered that is the role of a parent. If mine studied and showed a liking for learning i would point them to Uni. If they messed about for five years i would point them towards the hard grind of work......That is good parenting

Yes but Joe was in the works pension scheme at 16 and by the time he was 24 he was bunging in 7% and his employee 14%, That built a good pot and he carried it through until he was in his mid 50s his kids now at uni with no idea what they wanted in life his Mortgage was paid off in full and he had enough money put by to go part time and enjoy hobbies that he had recently took back up and kept his mind active. He worked 20 hours a week pricing work up and talking with customers life was great.

He had bumped into his old school pal at the match the week before. Still working in his cushy office job but he did not recognise him at first he must have put on 10 stone since school, said it was sitting down all day and they used to bring cakes in each Friday. His health was shot, he mentioned he was looking forward to retiring soon as he had a cracking final salary pension.....Two weeks later he heard his old school mate had passed

Swings and roundabouts.......Yes that is just a bollox story but it will resonate with many here

He had bumped into his old school pal at the match the week before. Still working in his cushy office job he looked good , his employer had a canteen that served healthy options every day, a cycle to work scheme , private health care for him and the family plus on site gym that used every day he wanted. His mate was telling him how rewarding work was working in an office with a real mix of people including women ! One of whom was his boss and she was great. The company as well as a generous salary scheme paid annual bonuses and he had made a killing from share options over the years. His kids were both part way through their apprenticeships and getting real on the job training without a mountain of debt. After a couple of beers his mate told when he was younger that he used to shag the girlfriend of a lad who used to work on site. Every Mad Friday lads on site used to go in town and fight with each other whilst their birds were saying how nice it was to be felt up by someone with such soft hands.

Just a slight correction to the middle bit.
