Army will sort them out.. like we're trusting someone that can't pass GCSE's with a gun..

Had a sixth former tell me they were "over qualified" for McD's.. again, like they're trusting you with food safety when you can't pass maths..

Sorry, but that's pathetic.

The military has been the maker of many men.

For time immemorial.

The very people who have, and continue to protect our nation.

As have been trades etc.

My neighbour ran a successful building company. He's dyslexic, and has few qualifications.

Numerous examples of success in the face of adversity.

Got to avoid that MAD MAX.

Mind you that a bonus for companies not employees no NI, pension etc contributions on top of no wages to pay.

There's always one.

Fuck it then. Don't encourage any kids into trades. Let them all loiter in search of IT jobs, marine biologist posts and whatever the fuck a sociology course leads to.

Go on then - changing a light bulb; replacing an electrical plug; scraping oil pockets into white metal bearing sleeves; re-wiring your house; buffing your woggle.

After you have successfully disputed these I have more. A lot more.

You asked if AI could lay bricks

Zico provides a video saying it can

And you go off into a rage about stuff that isn't related to your original point

Very strange behaviour

Like you hovering for a post from me? Oddball.

Check your facts once again. Show me where I asked if AI could lay bricks.

It's always old blokes who were never subjected to National Service (and are now too old to do it) that want to bring it back. Funny that. 🤔

Not many left alive who actually did National Service.

I recall Sunak proposed a "National Service" which I thought was a step in the right direction.

It doesn't need to be Square bashing and boyoneting rag dolls but less militarised, maybe a full time Duke of Edinburgh Award format more relevant to society and encouraging teams and working with others.

My advice would be to ignore that 'thicko'.

You said AI can't lay bricks (your words)

The video shows it does

If the best you've got is calling me an oddball for hovering over posts as the best sort of retort then you really need help

Won't happen simply because of economics... investment in that sort of equipment and set up costs on each site won't be possible when the value of laying a brick is around 50 pence each.

Nice idea though

I agree we need to encourage more vocational education; also raising the "esteem" of working in construction, it should no longer be seen as the domain of those who cannot get "respectable" jobs although the respectability of some white collar professions is beyond my comprehension

Agree it won't

Although, sadly, houses probably will be more flatpack / prefab / modular than brick in the future, meaning they can be lobbed up in no time at all, and minimal manpower will be required.

A new house was built in our village in well under a week, it was mental, basically a huge jigsaw, that a few blokes and a couple of cranes managed to erect in no time at all - apparently very environmentally friendly, not sure if it's cheaper or more expensive at the minute though

I need help with plenty. Where to find the cheapest good ale, how to make sense of it all, how to avoid fooktards.

So now you are changing your line of attack? Acknowledged in a roundabout way that I didn't ask if AI could lay bricks.

Fooktard avoidance techniques may need to become necessary.

Absolutely essential. Won't stop Hyacinth Bucket type parents pushing their kids towards fucking useless university degrees though.

What would the neighbours think?

..and the plumbing, electrical and finishing works?

I was talking about the actual house build. The modular in our village, was on the site of an old house that was demolished (which was a real shame, as it was over 150 years old) and my understanding is that this modular build was basically "plugged in" to the existing supplies - the outside of the building, came already rendered. It actually looks quite nice, although I'm not sure how good it is, and I'm sure the internal walls are dogshit (all my internal walls are brick)

There of course will, for the next decade at least, be a requirement for all the above mentioned trades - but the likes of Sweden and Japan (I believe) are quitre big on these modular things

Ok ask was the wrong word but the point still stands

You said it couldn't but it can and was shown to be the case

Better look closer to home for those fooktard avoidance techniques

The army (other armed forces too) male kids credit their GCSEs..

Not saying its right, I'm one of the most inclusive educators around but it's the way it is.

These neets are not the ones you speak of doing apprenticeships. For me apprenticeship should be the way forward for most, far better than the college uni route.

Isn’t that mechanisation? It’s been going on since the start of the Industrial Revolution.

I heard a good arguement recently that the "neets" should be re christened "leets"... "Looking for" rather than "Not in", that way we put the pressure on the government and avoid stigmatising youngsters who want to better themselves
