Hope Rice and Anderson don't start together in midfield against Mexico. Absolute bog.

Another win.

On to the next.

Enjoy the cold n gold 🍺

Amazed - we’re mostly all long in the tooth yet somehow come across surprised that England make hard work of things - whoever the manager is and whichever squad/players are picked.

Job done.

And it’s fucking great out at the pub/club with your closest when they do get the job done.

Kane is one of England’s greatest ever - and while we’ve got him scoring anything can happen.

Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 👏

We've got 4 identical like for like wingers.

We've taken 2 injury prone full backs and a defender who's not played all season.

We've just started a knock out world cup game with Djed Spence at right back who can barely get a game for 17th placed spurs and we finished the game with Declan Rice there.

Meanwhile We've got a right back playing for Real Madrid, a bang in form Lewis Hall and even Luke Shaw sat at home.

Harry Maguire is better than Guhei and Konsa.

Cole Palmer has more talent in his bing willy than Madauke.

Absolute barmy decisions.

Bang on

I haven't follwed the prem too closely since we went down.. I do know who most of these are, but I thought Spence was still in the Championship and I thought Mdueke and Eze were the same bloke (sickening)

I can’t take my eyes off that list.

We are very very lucky to witness this collection of goal-scorers all performing at the same tournament.

It’s no over-estimation to say they (the top 6) are some of the best goal-scorers to have ever played the game.

And to have an Englishmen up there is fantastic 👏

Kanes 2nd was elite shit. Watched in box park. No beer sprayed on me and really good. Onto Monday morning. Come on England

Watched on catchup at 5am and saw the coming PTSD again, from going to work speechless after the Iceland game in 2016.

No-one mentioned on here but Spence was schoolboy on the goal. Following the attacker rather than holding the line. Pickford probably should have saved it too.

Jude should have scored a header.

We were much the better team 2nd half and the goal was coming. Proper thunderbastard from Kane once he had a little space that we struggled to find earlier in the game.

Game is 6pm kick off in MC so at least we're not playing in the sun I guess. But we have to be better to have any chance. And it would be nice if the locals play fair don't wake us up the night before. Hope the FA all over that.

Madueke got off lightly from pundits, he’s absolute wank, never has a final ball. He and Spence were getting in each other’s way, Madueke not tracking back which was noticeable for their goal. I’d start with the team that left the pitch.

The balance with Rice and Saka in the right, Eze in a free role allowed for more fluidity and chemistry, gave more space for Anderson/Bellingham and overall expanded the pitch taking the opposition players away from this compact low block.

You could write an essay on this I think. TBF think Madueke only playing as Saka being managed. One of the reasons managers like Saka as he tracks the extra man here.

If you have another look at that the blame is attached to the two dodgy central defenders we have. Spence had to come across or their striker would have been all alone near the penalty spot. There is no avoiding it, our back four is poor. Very poor. We won't go much further but I never give up hope. Just looked what happened in the Belgium - Senegal match.

I really don't rate Guehi and City are just about to overspend again on Anderson. Both too mistake prone for my liking.

Harry Kane is just outrageously good at his craft. He may need to prove it yet again in our next game. If there is another game after that one I dread to think what Vini Jr and Raphinha might do to our back four.

See the photo. CBs are occupied. TBF Congo have 4 men right on our defensive line and we didn't cope. A lot of respect to Congo, they did far from park the bus. Even the 2nd half when we on top they looked to counter attack.

This with bells on. Said it at the time, and Rooney pointed it out too.

Spence can't win- if he doesn't cover the guy in the middle has a clear run.

Questions over his defending of course, but not on this occasion.

Might be a risk, but given who the defenders are, maybe Stones should play alongside Guehi. At least they will know each other from city.

The photo isn't representative of the situation.

Both centre halves drift across leaving Spence with the impossible task of covering 2 players.

Some help from the wingers wouldn't go amiss neither.

If that's ACD on that side he's there picking that man up.

Id rather have kachunga than Madueke

How he's wearing an England shirt is beyond me, he's really really shit

Going a bit deeper we are systematic of what you currently see across academies across the land in this country.

Packed to rafter full of athletes rather than footballer.

We never created a Modric or a Pirlo as we are obsessed with pace and power.

Foden, Grealish, Palmer, all generational talents but can just never fit with the elite or England as it's all absolutely strong fast and direct.

Exactly why we struggle when we can't be.

apparently the var report says they recommended the ref to look at the kane penalty but he said no

100% agree with this bit. DRC were great and played way beyond their "FIFA rating".

Excellent coaching and great commitment from the players. Said to the missus at HT, we'll end up winning this. They can't maintain this level of performance for 90 minutes.

But for the heroics of their 'keeper and some luck for England on a couple of occasions, this game could easily have ended up 6-3 or 5-2 and be feted as a 'classic' with a chance of getting the game of the tournament award if it had ended up being a high scoring affair.

Spot on but it has been so for decades. Coaches have a preference for stamina and athleticism over guile and craft.

When you think of Hoddle, Gazza etc. they were almost always seen as 'luxuries' instead of being the first name on the team sheet as they should have been. The 'continentals' build their team around the exceptional one when they find one.

Bang on ere the Gabfather

Never seen someone lose their pace in such a short space of time like Saka, he used to be electric. Looks like he'd lose a race with Dan Burn these days

if was no different in the last euros under Southgate

yeah we got to the final but it was generally very poor, particularly the group and initial knock out games

the squad isn't great defensively and going forward too inconsistent

We're basically hoping Bellingham and Kane can carry us all the way

We fumbled our way through the last euros, managed to find a way to win. Spain battered us on the night and were far superior.

Simon Jordan has just referred to madueka as a speedboat without a brain

seems fair enough
