Diouff - what price

Featured Replies

everyone seems to agree that we should sign diouff if the price is right ?

but what is that price, based on a three year deal.

so say ??3m as a fee and ??40k per week = ??9m.

based on current market i would think that is about the right price, what do you all think ?

and will we commit to that much ?

no matter what price they sell him for, we have to buy him. i,d say bout 2 million he,ll go for.

i reckon liverpool just want rid, so depending on competion for his signature i reckon the fee would be very minimal, much lower than everone expects

wages could be a problem, we arent gonna pay more than 40k a week so i suppose it depends on what others offer.

i'd like to think he would favour a move to bolton than anywhere else, but money speaks, if we offer him 20k and some spanish club offers 40k then theres no competition i'm afraid.

Diouf hasn't said he wants to stay yet.

But I reckon he would cost 2mil and 25k

That does seem more realistic!

I would guess that he would accept ??25K per week, but only on a 2 year deal. That way he gets two years for people to foget what a naughty boy he has been, play some blinding football and then go elsewhere for more money if he feels like it, whilst still only being 26 years old!

Also if he does have a blinder next year, we can sell him for much profit before his contract runs out hopefully.

Never mind about Diouf

What about Lofty the lion being cheated out of victory in his heat for the North West Clubs Mascot pancake tossing race. Said he'd dropped it

Tossers

If Diouf doesn't come out and say that he wants to stay as he loves the club/manager/fans, after all we've done for him, then I reckon we fcuk him off anyway.

If he does then I'd say ??2m, and 25k a week for 3 years = under ??6m, billy bargain. Otherwise, let him go and hopefully pick him up cheap when no one else will touch him.

2.5M to Liverpool

10K a week and a stirling silver spitoon as a signing on prezzie

he must be worth 3 million, and 40 k per week, we nearly paid 3 mill for camara so diouf is a better player and younger therefore better value, also 40 k a week should not be a problem, for every place in the league 500 k, with Diouf we would surely finish 2-3 places higher in the league gaining the club 1-1.5 million in prize money that nearly pays his wages.

and IF he twats a referee first match of next season #-o

Give him an extra ??10,000pw if its barry knight or riley

same as if he spits at somebody again, you terminate his contract under the "Gross Misconduct" clause that is cunningly inserted

Don't think he's done owt that outrageous to suggest major disciplinary problems in future

??40k a week tho, hmmm, sounds a lot.

Shouldn't get more than Nolan, JJ, Jussi and other key players, that's all I'd say, I dunno what they get.

The guy is driven by the colour of money (his words not mine by the way!)

If he is on 40k per week at Liverpool it is going to take close to that to prise him away, otherwise he will just see out his contract earning 40k for doing nothing.

He is a good player and would be a good signing, but will he deliver 20 goals a season? If not by signing Diouf does this mean we have to forget about signing a 20 goals a season player...I dont know but the answer is out there.......

doubt he would get 20 goals

but then not many strikers do, pariculary outside the top 4

and with him not playing the main striker role when Davies is fit means her certainly wouldn't get 20 goals

6 goals in 17 starts isn't bad though

13 goals a season is what that could equate to

I think the answer could lie with how many years he has left on his Anfield contract. If we offer to take him off their hands at a reduced transfer fee - will that then make his contract with them null and void? I mean, if he has 3 years to run - can he get Liverpool to pay him up and move wherever?

If this is the case and he has a few years of salary in the bank, we can pay him a lot less than the ??40k he gets now.

I imagine its all about who want the move to take place. Liverpool will want it stated that Diouf is looking to move. Diouf's agent will want it stated that its Liverpool wanting Diouf out of the club. If its proved Liverpool want him out - then they are going to be pissed off and will then request a larger transfer fee.

(wish I'd not started this reply).

If he is motivated by the ??40K per week, then he'll be sitting out his contract at Liverpool, as nobody will pay him that. Although maybe we could loan him again from Liverpool. Although, maybe Liverpool would terminate his contract, we could then give him his ??2M-??3M value over the course of his contract bringing him up to around ??40K p/w

I doubt he'll sit in the reserves just to earn ??10k a week more, it doesn't make sense in the long run anyway cos his earning potential would plummet by the end of his contract. If he's motivated by money the best way to earn more is to play regularly and play well.

When the time comes to return to Anfield he'll realise what he'll be leaving behind. If he doesn't - see ya later

I can only see him playing for the wanderers next year if we take him on another season long loan. I would be surprised if he comes on a perm due to the wage demands. Like people have said he has not asked for a move so will expect Pool to pay up his contract in which case they will hike up the transfer fee and if he asks for a move, he will want the full 40k from us otherwise he is not gaining anything.

The guy has said he is in football not because he loves playing the game but because of the money he can earn from it and once he has earned enough he would be prepared to walk away from it completely even if it means at a young age.

We will have to hope another club does not want to take the risk and pay the transfer fee (birmingham??)

so far as i know, another 12 months left on his contract after this season

i think only way this will work is if he comes to us on a free

got to remember he is perceived to be high risk, and the longer that remains the case the better

problem may be the 40k a week - not so much the 40k itself, more if it had implications for other contracts

maybe okocha/campo are guaranteed of being top earners?

maybe need to think about that

when did he say that? If it was when he was at Liverpool then it could well be influenced by the rotten time he was having. Now he's at somewhere where the fans are behind him and its all working well it may be a different story....

anybody who gives a player a "guaranteed to be highest earner at club" clause in a contract needs their bumps feeling! - I would imagine that our managment is a litlle shrewder than that

they wouldn't be the first

not by a long chalk

anyway, all things considered, i don't think we'll get him

nowt to do with lack of ambition, more to do with good sense

is suppose he's got three months to convince those that matter that hes worth the gamble
