when they ring, if the caller is female, ask her what she's wearing, if its male say you're putting him on hold then just plonk the phone down on the table and let him listen to your telly.

there's normally a pause or click before they speak. Just put the phone down. If it was a mate or relative they'll probably phone back.

Or you could always ask em for a quote and wind up the salesman when he comes around. =;

wether its windows/doors/kitchens/bathrooms etc you just say you live in a council house-they put the phone down straightaway.

yeah pretend to shout through to the next room 'have the debt collectors stopped coming round yet?' .. might put them off.

Girl in my place kept telling me how hacked off she was with 'conservatory salesmen' phoning so I suggested she get one round to quote (for her first floor flat).

Used to get about 7 or 8 calls a day offering me timeshare, gas, windows etc. SDW told me to register with TPS and now i don`t get a single call and if i do i just mention that they not allowed to ring me and they can`t get off the line fast enough.

My favourite is to say that it is not convenient at the moment and could I have their home number so that I can ring them back later. They then tell me that they don't want me ringing them at home ...... yeah, neither do I.

The site says to allow 28 days for the registration to work, but the calls stopped pretty much straight away. As Brixton said, tell them that you would like their details as you have registered and they are committing an offence, and they can't hang up quick enough. (Or, if you want some fun, get their details first then tell them )
