It was a tense and exciting day. We had to wait for the Scunthorpe result to come through before we were sure.

Driving back from playing for Thornleigh Old Boys, listening to it on the radio and I remember being surprised we'd gone up because there was no way I thought the other results would go our way.

 

Christ I feel old.

It's a measure of the progress made by the club on the field.

Celebrated that one with Speccy Brew in the bus shelter at the top of Bromwich Street. Can remember it well. Had a Saturday job, so couldn't go, great day though.
