March 12, 200620 yr are we a better team without him in the starting XI? got to say, it crossed my mind yesterday.
March 12, 200620 yr Have to say I too have thought this. But most people who watch the Wanderers week in week out think he's compltely solid so...
March 12, 200620 yr Nice to know that we don't have to rely on 1 certain player and we have options available to us
March 12, 200620 yr I thought one of the reasons that J.J. played so well was that he was in the "holding" spot in midfield. It gave him a little more time on the ball and he was able to select his passes and pick out his targets better. If we bring Faye back in and move J.J. forward, this will negate the advantage.
March 12, 200620 yr Get a few better attacking players playing against us and J J would be useless in that position wheras Faye would destroy (look at the Arsenal game) Think it would have been a different story had Ashton, Benayoun and Harewood started. J J wouldnt have had as much time as they would have chased everything down im sure.
March 12, 200620 yr Campo, if he ever wears the White again, is a better option in the holding role, Faye's passing just not Premiership standard.
March 12, 200620 yr for me seped, nolan and jay jay is a decent three. play stelios , who keeps proving ,me wrong on the right and the machine who proves me right on the left.* you are quite solid, with a reasonable threat. yesterddays starting back with bruno instead of jd and coke. kev d up front, although if we spend decent money on a forward with strength and pace i would nt moan. * ok maybe spit before the machine.
March 12, 200620 yr Okocha played that role at Newcastle with Faye further forward, so it doesn't necessarily mean that you can't keep JJ deeper. Pre African Nations there was no way we could leave Faye out, but he hasn't looked the same since he came back Against West Ham in the cup, I think I would play him instead of Vaz Te, but Sunderland next week, leave him on the bench and bring Pedersen or Vaz Te, or if fit Diouf in. We need to be able to tweak the team a little dependent on who we are playing. I mean to get the most out of a match, not to rest players like West Ham did
March 12, 200620 yr my XI assuming evryones fit: Jussi JOB TBH Faye Ricky MkI JJ Nolan Speed Stavros Dioufy Davies Subs: Walker Campo Ricky MkII Pedersen Borgetti
March 12, 200620 yr how you can drop bruno is beyond me, faye is never a centre half and never will be.
March 12, 200620 yr Faye was superb at centre back when needed aye had shearer in his pocket at the reebok
March 12, 200620 yr aye, sorry you guys are the experts, wonder why he never plays their every week.......... [-X
March 12, 200620 yr Faye was superb at centre back when needed aye had shearer in his pocket at the reebok Better he'd had him kicked into the middle of East Upper. Oohh, that was a bit violent for me. Peace & love man.
March 12, 200620 yr aye, sorry you guys are the experts, wonder why he never plays their every week.......... [-X maybe not his preferred position
March 12, 200620 yr Anyone who isnt willing to play out of position doesnt deserve to be able to put on the shirt
March 12, 200620 yr Anyone who isnt willing to play out of position doesnt deserve to be able to put on the shirt you mean he should have his arms cut off bit harsh, that

March 12, 200620 yr what I'm saying is that i'm a defender but aint no good in front of goal, but in emergency situations i'm sure i could push forward and make my presence felt but i can't play there every game as there are one or two better strikers available. comprehend
March 12, 200620 yr i wouldnt call it harsh. id expect some one to cut off my arms if i told big sam to stuff it if he asked me to play.
March 12, 200620 yr We're more open with him playing, but if we're playing the "big boys" we should definately play him for him to basically nullify their midfield.
March 13, 200620 yr We're more open with him playing, but if we're playing the "big boys" we should definately play him for him to basically nullify their midfield. Correct, it's got to be horses for courses. Faye is a useful member of the squad and at times forst eleven. However, he was best where he was on Saturday. Come Wednesday, in the away game there I'm not so sure...
March 13, 200620 yr he wont suit every game with his style but he can be the most important player in the team some days eg:- arsenal home
March 13, 200620 yr up until 2/3 weeks ago Okocha was sh??te, past it and should be on the first plane to Qatar just before this, Faye was Big Sam's most astute signing and bargain of the season which goes to show (as well as how quick we forget) it's a marathon not a sprint and the more quality players in the sqaud the better, a squad that should be judged over a season and not over the last few games - as no doubt all will play their part over a season, just as many will have dips in form that said, I'm still waiting for Oscar Perez to have his moment in the sun
March 13, 200620 yr that said, I'm still waiting for Oscar Perez to have his moment in the sun Of all the things he left Spain to go to Bolton for, that's got to be the least likely.
are we a better team without him in the starting XI?
