Our away support is garbage

It's an embarassment at times. Too many people with too many excuses. [-X

think the reasons were

a) it was on SKY

B) most of your lot were off to Villareal the following midweek

c) it was ??39

for me, a & c would be enough without b

Villareal away 3 days after your game, then Fulham away 3 days after Villareal!!

That was an expensive week!

Exactly, and we still managed 2000 at Fulham and 2200 at bolton and 12000 at Villareal in one week!

Last night and Boro has left me feeling uninspired to travel to away games. I thought I'd give it another shot, see what I've been missing these last couple of seasons, where admittedly, my away support has been sporadic and very thin on the ground.

Both followings were poor. Very little if no singing. No togetherness.

Okay, a lot of familiar faces - but also a lot of fans I really don't know.

But it makes you wonder - 1500-2000 vociferous fans in that corner last night - could it have made a difference to the performance, the atmosphere, the whole occasion?

I felt let down by both our support and the players last night.

Pablo - you're a Boltonian. Deal with it :-$

PB

Our away support at Brum, M`Boro, Fulham, WBA, Charlton, West Ham is normally poor!!

If you look at our following compared with Bigger supported clubs ie villa, brum, WBA, Mboro its not that bad. Its just the clubs who have built up a massive following over years and years who regulary take good away followings

Must have been a lot of fooking hubcaps nicked and sold leading up to them games then.

Was last nights away following that bad? I was at the back and it looked about 800-1000 to me.

Ask yourself - how many would Brum bring to our place on a Tuesday night? not much more if any I reckon.

Looked about the same from my seat and yes, Brum would bring half that on a school night.

i thought there was over 1000 there last night, over the last 3 years i have been to all brum away games and last night is easily the most we have taken.

Not many is my guess, Brum's away following has dwindled in the last few years, like a lot of teams.

Away followings are down because of prices. While clubs like us continue to charge stupid amounts of money for tickets - this won't change.

It's not the fans fault, the clubs are the ones killing the game.

Looked at Liverpool cost. About ??90 for tickets (It's a family thing!) Say ??20 for petrol, ??5 for car park, ??20 for dinner, ??20 for drinks. . .

??155 for a day out? I'd rather take them to Alton towers!

??20 for petrol, are you going via Birmingham?

okay, maybe not poor in numbers, but it was very poor in respect of no atmosphere generated, no togetherness. The most interesting thing that happened was when the beach balls were bouncing around - even their fans were more interested in that than the game.
