Eddie Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 the biggest transfer in bolton's history and still no news on the BEN website, absolutely pathetic. Give it a few days. Then they will catch on, on what has happened.
YATESY Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Given them their dues here. I first read about the transfer at the BP petrol station near the M66 in Bury this morning on the back of the Friday edition of the BEN. For how long has the current day's BEN been in circulation at 8.00 in the morning?
Mounts Kipper Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 I feel i had to email the editor about this, here is my email. Dear Mr Sudlow, it is now 11.48, 12 hours since bolton released a statement confirming Anelka's move to bolton, the biggest transfer in our history, and to my dismay i log on to read what the BEN has to say, and nothing, no mention, i would like to say i have always purchased the BEN whenever possible, but many BWFC fans now do not bother the coverage with regards to BWFC, IS VERY POOR, i suggest you employ somebody who loves BWFC and not some ex MAN CITY or ex Man United Fan, pull your socks up.

jimmyjoojar Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I mailed Chris also: Chris, Can you explain why you don't seem to do your job as internet editor? Throughtout the summer you have been at best slow in reporting what is going on at the Wanderers. But today you have out done yourself, can you justify why there isn't a mention of the Anelka story on the thisisbolton.co.uk site yet? The story broke over 13 hours ago, BWFC made a statement last night and yet its all quiet on your website. You are doing a poor job, if its a question of not knowing what is going why not copy and paste from the reputable football websites. As they are regularly posting "FACTUAL" stories hours before you decide to pull your finger out and post something. Which strangely always seems to be at 4.13pm or similar. His response made me laugh: Hi, in reply to your message, stories that appear on the bolton evening news website are generated from the print edition, which is on sale now, therefore people are encouraged to buy the newspaper to read breaking stories and catch up with the internet edition in the afternoon. Thank you Chris Sudlow Bolton Evening News Group Internet Editor Tel: 01204 537366 Mob: 07713558206 So i thought i'd stick the boot in: Dear Chris, At least you have a sense of humour...Breaking stories in the BEN!!
Carlos Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 1) Sudlow isn't the editor 2) It's a newspaper, they are under no obligation to keep the website part up to date.

stinkythefrog Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Surely from a commercial position it doesn't really benefit the BEN to keep the website up to date as they want people to buy the paper rather than read it for free on Tinternet ?

Sweep Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Surely from a commercial position it doesn't really benefit the BEN to keep the website up to date as they want people to buy the paper rather than read it for free on Tinternet ? Correct, some people struggle with this concept though
Mounts Kipper Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 Surely from a commercial position it doesn't really benefit the BEN to keep the website up to date as they want people to buy the paper rather than read it for free on Tinternet ? it does not have to be the full story, but a brief summary would suffice, there are bolton fans all over the world who cannot recieve the BEN who use the website for info, it is no excuse.

Then why do the vast majority of papers do it then? Like Mount said, its not a full story we are looking for but just a small piece stating the facts.
Zico Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 mounts we've signed anelka it's bank holiday weekend try to spend this time not moaning about something a BEN story would not tell you anything you don't know already anyway if you're going to Charlton tomorrow you can buy me a pint if you want, and say Zico, I should've listened to you all along
