September 25, 200619 yr Author What did he say? We left the pub straight after the final whistle. 'Tell me, Have you ever been offerd a bung' to which sam replied 'do me a favour jeff' something along those lines anyway Edited September 25, 200619 yr by RiCcI
September 25, 200619 yr 'Tell me, Have you ever been offerd a bung' to which sam replied 'do me a favour jeff' something along those lines anyway I like the way he squirmed as Sam boll*cked him. The bloke wants sacking for asking a question like that.
September 25, 200619 yr I spat at the telly and kicked the dog when he asked it but come on, take your white tinted glasses off. It was a question that was going to be asked and its only coz its BSA that we're complaining.
September 25, 200619 yr What the fcuk, he can't go round saying stuff like that? He shouldn't be in a job tomorrow...
September 25, 200619 yr I like the way he squirmed as Sam boll*cked him. The bloke wants sacking for asking a question like that. Like Sam said, he was obviously under instructions to ask it. Sam was naive to give the interview.
September 25, 200619 yr Author What the fcuk, he can't go round saying stuff like that? He shouldn't be in a job tomorrow... do you think he was planning on asking arry' a question like that? but was put off by sam's reaction?
September 25, 200619 yr stelling was obviously told to ask the question, he seemed uncomfortable asking it to start with...
September 25, 200619 yr stelling was obviously told to ask the question, he seemed uncomfortable asking it to start with... He was even more uncomfortable as Sam made him look stupid for asking it.
September 25, 200619 yr jeff stelling was and still is in my opinion a very good, unbiased reporter host or what ever he preports to be. but he did overstep his mark and even though he is being paid to ask questions he surely should have known he was out of order with his remarks , and slurring sam on a much bigger screen than bbc was wrong by sky, jeff and their respective cohorts for cheap sensationalism,on their part come on sky your worth more than that
September 25, 200619 yr It was a question that was going to be asked and its only coz its BSA that we're complaining. agreed
September 25, 200619 yr On the (slightly) amusing side, can you see him asking Dave Jones during a post match interview........ 'So then Dave, have you ever nonced kids?'

September 25, 200619 yr My ears may be deceiving me,but i thought Stelling actually said "Have you ever offered anyone a bung?" In other words - Stelling was trying to make a crappy "play on words" type joke. If thats what he did say,the joke didn't go down too well.
September 25, 200619 yr In fairness Stelling's usually good to us and I imagine, as said above, he was pressed to ask the question. He did say 5 minutes earlier when looking at the league table, "Bolton up to 6th, back in familiar territory." Which I quite liked. Lets face we're going to be getting plenty more sh??t like this yet so we'd better get used to it.
September 25, 200619 yr Here it is http://home.skysports.com/broadband.aspx?showclip=yes I think he puts him right in his place.
September 25, 200619 yr Here it is http://home.skysports.com/broadband.aspx?showclip=yes I think he puts him right in his place. Stelling was squirming well done BSA
September 25, 200619 yr Here it is http://home.skysports.com/broadband.aspx?showclip=yes I think he puts him right in his place. Having watched that - its clear in my mind who will have the worst nights sleep tonight - and that's Jeff Stelling. Again as others have said - I rate the guy and hold him in high esteem. Very wrong. BUT, he did say "offered" and not "taken". But all the same, it was wrong and he should apologise profusely. I think we all need to email SKY and make an issue of this and get his name cleared. Its okay having one channel witch hunting - we don't need any more. And like Smiffs said - would anyone ever ask Dave Jones that question? http://home.skysports.com/contactus/
September 25, 200619 yr Sam weren't happy with that question he chucked in "Sam, have you ever taken a bung?" thought he were going to tell him to f??ck off
September 26, 200619 yr Just watched that clip and I thought Sam handled himself very well. Listening to the report on Five Live I as travelled home from the match last night, I got the impression that Sam had 'snapped' at Jeff Stelling. I would hardly have described his reaction as 'angry'. However this is just typical of the 'unbiased' reporting which the bbc are offering on this story. After Panorama was first aired, the BBC kept reporting that the programme showed 3 agents saying that Sam had taken a bung. It didn't - it showed 3 agents claiming that Sam might take a bung. They're clearly out to make him look bad. Chins up Sam!
September 26, 200619 yr Just to add to it all, Gartside was having it out with Sky Sports producers an hour after the Jeff Stelling question last night.
September 26, 200619 yr You're live on national TV and the presenter asks you have you ever accepted a bung. What luck! A chance to publically deny the allegations against you in front of millions watching around the world. A firm 'no' would have been the perfect answer. Instead Allardyce muddies the water even further by having a pop at the presenter.
