i'm sure he always has wished Sam and the lads good luck before a game! typical scousers having a whinge probably.

You have to admit it's a bit naive doing it in the first place, he knows someone will whine about it.

 

Suppose its a shame because even though I never really bought programmes I imagine his articles give an insight into refereeing etc and will be a tad more interesting than staring at a Soreen advert.

It was one of the more interesting articles he sometimes explained one of his recent decisions that had caused a bit of a kafuffle!

 

Think he trains at our facilities so has met the players and staff.

Can't see the problem myself. If Halsey wants to wish a team he is not reffing good luck so be it. The FA are now aware of this and won't let him ref any of our matches. Jeff 'desperate to be a media star' Winter wasn't allowed to ref Middlesborough matches.

ive heard halsey talkin on interviews before and he does refer to bolton as 'we' which i found rather strange...

Casino is correct, Mark also he helps Fred Barber at a goalkeeper coaching school in Bolton though not connected to Bolton Wanderers

Lee Mason is another ref in the Prem who lives in Bolton and is not allowed to ref our games.

a few years ago the premier league allocated refs to clubs, this was done to ensure that clubs understood interpretation of new rules, such as the changes to off-side.

 

if the league allocate rafs to clubs they can hardly maon if the ref then treats that club as his club can they.

 

 

it has been a rule of ages that you can not ref the club of where you live.

 

but if halsey moved to live in leeds he could ref us !!

The only problem I can see having one ref associated with a club is if they ref another game, let's say Spurs against City and the Wanderers need Spurs to lose the game, the ref makes a 'mistake' and City win. Oh dear Wanderers benefit from it.

This is actually an interesting subject because its the second time that Mark Halsey has been criticised for his association with the Wanderers. There was a match last year that he refereed against Charlton and his impartiality was questioned. As I understand it, all the referees train with a club. Does anyone know which referees train with which club? Has any other referee come under scrutiny for their connection with the club they train with or is it another example of the southern medias anti Bolton agenda!
